Customer Ratings & Reviews
Great AR optic.
I managed to grab one of these during a sale and I couldn't be more pleased. This was my first experience with a 1-4x24 scope, and it's safe to say I won't be returning to a red-dot sight. The non-illuminated reticle is particularly appealing to individuals like me who have astigmatism, as it eliminates the 'bloom' issue often encountered with red-dots. To my eye, the glass is extraordinarily clear, and the overall build of the scope appears quite robust. The only drawback I've noticed is a fish-eye effect at low power, but that's anticipated with a more budget-friendly optic. Of course, the Razor HD outperforms in all aspects, but for hunting or range use, this scope fits the bill perfectly.
Well Suited to the task, the Crossfire II delivers
I recently acquired a Marlin 1895 SSBL as a guide weapon. It was essential for me to have something capable of fending off a bear, ensuring the safety of my clients. The .45-70 caliber was just right for close range bear encounters. The Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x turned out to be the ideal complement for this gun. It offers the versatility of dialing down to 1x for an extended field of view, and escalating up to 4x if a finishing shot on a wounded bear becomes necessary. The scope's clarity is truly impressive, especially under low light conditions. Despite the heavy recoil from the 420gr hardcast .45-70 rounds, the scope seems immune to any impact. While my shoulder might beg to differ, the scope stands resilient. When paired with the 30mm Vortex tactical rings, the setup feels incredibly secure and reliable in the field. Plus, the scope's aesthetic matches perfectly with the gun, adding to my satisfaction. The scope was on target after just three shots - a real relief. A notable achievement was a successful 400-yard hit on a steel target, a feat unattainable with lesser quality optics.
Awesome and Rugged...BUY IT!!!
For nearly two years, my AR has been outfitted with the Crossfire II 1-4x24 scope. Its performance has been stellar, both at the shooting range and during two winter deer hunting expeditions. The scope has consistently maintained its zero without fail. I particularly appreciate the V-Brite reticle, which proves extremely valuable during the twilight hours up in a tree. Remarkably, the original battery is still going strong! The scope's glass delivers a clarity and crispness that is truly second to none. I've owned numerous scopes from brands like Nikon, Bushnell, and Weaver, but Vortex stands out as the best. The aesthetic of the Crossfire is impressive and makes me wonder about the superior quality of their Viper line. With an exceptional scope and outstanding customer service, Vortex ensures you get nothing but the best!
Best 1-4x24 scope for an AR-15
Vortex Crossfire II Scope was precisely what I needed for my new AR-15—rapid target acquisition under 15 yards and accurate at 100 yards. The large reticle is very comfortable and great for easy & quick viewing. The ability to turn the red dot target center on/off is a great feature. Tremendous scope for the price. I paired up perfectly with the Vortex scope mount.
Very Good Value
I bought this vortex crossfire 1-4x24 scope from several weeks ago and currently have it mounted on a Henry 41 magnum. It is a surprisingly good balance between eye relief, magnification, and field of view. I think they call this the eye box, whatever, it works out well. The light-gathering seems to be better than other scopes of equivalent value with a one-inch tube, this being 30 mm. However, this scope is heavier than most one-inch tubes at 16 ounces. It throws a light carbine like the Henry out of balance and sits too high above the barrel to keep a cheek on the stock. Just because it is not quite right for a lever-action carbine does not mean it works well on other guns, thinking now of my Mauser 35 Whelen where it should be perfect. Still trying to figure out the difference between the Crossfire and Diamondback lines - one has an aluminum body and the Crossfire a plastic or fiberglass tube or body. I wish they had given more information in the descriptions.
I LOVE this Vortex 1-4x scope
I'm almost 40 and have been shooting since I was 6; I love to shoot and shoot a lot, it's my equivalent to going to the golf course, and I own about 25 firearms. I have used a lot of different scopes over the years, but this is my first low powered scope that goes down to 1x; I bought it because I had been using a 3-9x power scope on my .223 and didn't like that much magnification for shooting at short range 25 yards and less (I've always preferred open sights at that distance) so then I tried a red dot on the .223. I like the red dot a lot for short-range, however, at over 25 yards, I like to have some magnification; it seems to me like 50 yards is the distance where magnification is a game-changer. Anyways I had no idea what I was missing with low-powered scopes!! WOW, I LOVE being able to go down to 1x, and you don't need more than 4x unless you're going out far. This scope is crystal clear, and one thing essential is it is an HONEST 1x power. I did a lot of research before buying it and beware a lot of scopes out there say 1x-(whatever), BUT a lot of the companies fudge the numbers, and they are not a real 1x power, you can't quickly put the scope to your eye with both eyes open on the scopes that are not honest 1x power without some distortion. I was about to buy a Leopold VX-2 1-4x before purchasing this, BUT I discovered it was a 1.4x even though Leupold says 1x. With this scope, you really do get the same feel as a red dot at 1x with both eyes open and the benefit of ample magnification out to 100+ yards, and I LOVE it!!!! Next, I'm going to put a bunch of these on firearms. I typically shoot 100 yards and under like my Ruger 10/22 .22 LR, and I also have a 44 magnum rifle and 357 magnum rifle; this scope is also perfect for a handgun caliber rifle, even a 9mm carbine. In my opinion, the 3-9x scopes have way too much magnification for short-range work, especially if you're going to use it defensively and the bad guy is moving.
My vortex crossfire ii 1 4x24 review
The Vortex is the perfect match to my Ruger Scout Rifle in 308. The little lighted dot was exactly what I wanted as, for some reason, this is the fastest sight for me. Range testing proved that with a normal over chamber mounting, the Rifle/Scope combination produced MOA at 50 and 100 yards. Ammo was Fiocchi 150 grain factory soft points.
would buy again
Once mounted and sighted, you just pull up on target, and it is there. It certainly isn't a long-range scope, but for old tired eyes, it is the whip. I like that at 1 power you can keep both eyes open. No distortion. Beautiful thing. Use on an ar.
Great for the money
This scope was purchased for my trusty old 336 marlin in 35 Remington. It's very thick and brushy where it will be used. The uncluttered fine line reticle, with the small red dot , which is adjustable for brightness, is just about perfect for short range. It's all sighted in and ready to go after the big bucks. Yes, I do have scopes with better glass, but I am impressed with the quality of this scope for what I paid.

Don't let the price fool you great piece for the money
I needed to put optics on 3 of my guns; I have always used Trijicon and Leupold only on my other pieces. My friend let me use his savage 308, and it had a vortex on it, and I was amazed how well it worked. It is crystal clear and priced well below the competitors. I bought two and have had nothing but positive things to say about it. Their warranty is also excellent, but I have not had to use it yet. Other reviews say it's a little dim in daylight conditions, but that did not seem to b a problem with mine. People need to know exactly the correct optic to use for each situation and gun type; they seem to have a great variety for all applications. Vortex made me a fan of their optics and soon will b adding two more to my collection .to date, about 7500 rounds went downrange and still has the original battery and not one problem.
Vortex = Great scope and Great company!
I have run this scope on my AR for approximately three years and had no problems until I noticed a tiny speck of debris on the inside of the lens; accuracy was not hindered what so ever but I decided to send it back to Vortex for inspection I gave them a call, and the rep sent my an e-mail in about a minute with instructions, mailed the scope in Monday and have it back in my hands on Saturday! The scope looks great. Debris has been cleaned, scope inspected, and good as new. Vortex made this painless for me, I won't soon forget.
