    Streamlight rail mount 1 review

Streamlight Protac Rail One. It's a high-value light with many features. It's attached to my Midwest Industries rail, which is compact, ensuring the setup isn't bulky. The light isn't too long and is similar to the Surefire Scout lights, but at a fraction of the price. It comes with both a manual tail cap and a tape switch. I've chosen the tape switch for versatility, and it has multiple operation methods. One feature I love is that if I don't want the light on, I can slightly unscrew the back to deactivate it. Brightness-wise, there's a longer version available, but this one suits my needs. Especially indoors, where too much brightness can cause self-blinding. The mount I use isn't the factory one; it's an Arisaka Inline mount that attaches directly to the M-lock, keeping the light close to the rail. One of the best features of this light is its battery versatility. It can run on CR123 batteries, which are common in tactical lights, or on AA batteries, which are easily available. I've tested this light in a shoot house at Spartan Training Concepts, where I'm attending a force-on-force class. The light's positioning allows for optimal illumination when moving around corners, especially for right-handed shooters like me. The strobe feature is also quite effective in such environments. In conclusion, while Surefire is a trusted brand, Streamlight offers a budget-friendly alternative that performs exceptionally well. It comes with both a tail cap and tape switch, and its compatibility with Surefire Scout lights means there's a vast aftermarket for it.

    Great little light!

Put the Streamlight protac rail mount 1 light on my AR-15 quad rail. It's pretty bright, and the strobe function could be useful. It's a nice little package that includes everything to mount it up, I just wish the wire to the pressure switch was a couple of inches longer. The switch itself is nice, and I like how you can tell if you're going constantly on or not just by the shape of it.

I love this AR15 Light!! I have this Streamlight rail mount 1 light on two ar15s and one shotgun and plan on outfitting more guns with them. They are super bright and don't take weird oddball batteries. AA batteries are plentiful and readily available anywhere. The pulse mode is a great option for disorientation for bad guys. It comes with the pressure pad and the regular push button back cap so you can run either option. Incredibly versatile, rugged, and top quality! It doesn't stick out like other weapon lights, mounts anywhere a Picatinny rail section is and the mount is part of the body of light, so you don't have to worry about it popping off or becoming loose over time. And this light doesn't break the bank compared to other weapon lights out there and it does a fantastic job. That is exactly what I was looking for. Great job, Streamlight! Keep up the great work! I plan on purchasing lots more of these. They are worth every penny. I couldn't be happier.

Installation was simple with the included options onto the Picatinny adapter for my KMR Alpha rail, and the remote switch fit well onto the top for my thumb placement while presenting the gun. As I put more rounds downrange with this light installed, the durability will be put to the test, but as I already trust and use Streamlight TLR products on my pistols, I'd imagine this won't be any different. The ability to use CR123 and AA batteries sold me. Since this is on a defensive rifle destined for use in a highly unlikely scenario, it only makes sense for it to be ready for the also unlikely scenario that I can't procure CR123 batteries.

Streamlight protac rail mount 1 AA battery

This light works great. The option to use the AA battery is excellent. The AA doesn't put out as much light but is enough to see over 100 yards at night. This is just what I needed to help secure my house and property after the sun goes down. I bought two and will be getting more.

The Streamlight rifle light is beautiful and bright, and the battery life is good. The mounting kits work for rails, and it gives you other options if, for some reason, you don't have rail space. This is an excellent purchase

My Streamlight protac rail mount 1 review

I was looking for a weapon light for my AR15. The Surefire lighting systems seamed to be the best on the market, but the pricing was out of my budget. I came across youtube video comparing the Protac rail mount 1 to Surefire. After several videos, I was convinced that this was great light for my needs and is well within my price range. The Pro Tac light was easily mounted on my AR with the supplied hardware. I was able to install the remote switch where my thumb naturally rests on the top of the rail. It was not bulky and hugged the rail fairly tight for my needs. The light was bright enough for my home defense needs and illuminated my back yard more than sufficient. I also like the fact that AA battery can be used in lieu of the CR123A. I will be buying another light for my shotgun.

The Streamlight rail mount 1 Great affordable alternative to a Surefire Scout!

I chose Streamlight rail mount 1 because it can take both AA and CR123 batteries. CR123's give better performance, but in an SHTF situation, AA's may be more available. The mount is solid, and I like the fact that it comes with both the regular tail-cap and the pressure switch. However, the switch/pad is a touch short, so when you put it on a rail using the included Picatinny clips (I put the switch on the top rail on the handguard), the switch has some fore/aft movement. I ended up going with a Cloud Defensive mount which includes a cable management channel built-in. Great light and flexible mounting options with all the options currently available for the Scout.

The Streamlight ProTac rail mount 1 is Not Surefire, But Good Quality On A Budget

I've owned numerous WML's including Surefire's flagship M600 Ultra. However, I don't jump out of helicopters for a living and so don't need anything excessively bombproof, just reasonably rugged & durable. Enter the Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1 & 2. The RM-2 looks to be a direct competitor to the aforementioned Surefire M600U, but the smaller RM-1 is what caught my eye, what with being reasonably bright, smaller, lighter & capable of taking AA's in a pinch if CR123's aren't available (at the cost of 150 lumen output vice 350 lumens w/CR123s). Being able to fit all aftermarket Surefire M300/M600 mounts is the icing on the cake. Yes, it's made in China, but China is capable of making excellent lights. No, the electronics aren't potted, but then neither are Surefire's. A hotspot is tight & bright; the peripheral spill is good but not as full as M600U. Tailcap switch has a good combination of easy to press/activate for momentary-on w/a decent depth before activating constant-on. The included remote tape switch & replacement remote tail cap look good (I don't use them), but obviously aren't as rugged as Surefire's offerings (but at 1/4 the price, I don't expect them to be) although having both momentary and constant-on switches on the pad is great. One should exercise care when deciding on how to mount both the light and remote tape switch since the cable isn't detachable from the tail cap and so either the body of the light or the tape switch has to be free to unscrew the tail cap to change batteries w/o damaging the cable. The 10-Tap feature worked perfectly to allow me to select my preferred High-Only mode (High/Strobe & High/Low are the other available modes) and prevents accidental mode switching due to the number of quick taps needed for a deliberate change. My RM-1 mounted perfectly on a Magpul MOE Scout Mount, exactly as an M300/M600 would w/the button perfectly placed for activation w/the support hand thumb. My only very minor complaint to date is the O-ring that seals the tailcap to the body seems a touch flimsy. No big deal, tougher O-rings are cheap at your local hardware store. For appx $100, you get a lot of light w/accessories that would cost you a lot more if purchasing Surefire accessories. Great performance & value for your money, I give it five stars.

I've used this Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount light for the past eight months or so. The light beam is very well focused, so the 350 lumens is highly useful at long and short distances. The dual function tape switch is a bonus. The capacity to use AA batteries is a plus.
