Customer Ratings & Reviews
The USB recharging is awesome, I think. The Streamlight protac 2l x flashlight is very bright, rugged, and not too big or heavy. I also like the versatile clip. What I don't like is the way you have to go through the different modes. I don't like the feel of the rear button, but maybe it's just me. Best way to use it is to leave it on high in my opinion.
This Streamlight protac 2l x is a very nice, small, and reliable pocket-sized flashlight. It's comfortable, and you hardly know it's in your pocket. I used it in a dark movie theater to assist a young lady in finding her car keys after they fell out of her coat pocket somewhere behind the seats. Convenient little flashlight indeed. I carry it every day.
I’ll start by saying I’m a maintenance and light repair technician working at a ford dealership. I have one of these that I keep at home and the other I leave at work. This Streamlight protac 2l-x flashlight works very well except for the rechargeable batteries when the battery gets low the light will start to cut out randomly even if the light seems to be a normal brightness. I haven’t used the non-recharge able batteries in this light before because of how expensive they are. I’ve used this thing as a hammer before, and um it still works.
Great EDC light, can't go wrong!
Great EDC light, packs a nice punch for its size! I have carried a regular Protac 2l for YEARS now. The original ones had issues with the tailcaps going bad, but my Streamlight 500 lumens 2LX has been going strong. The new pocket clip is nice, allows the light to ride low in the pocket in the bezel down position but still easy to remove when needed. The addition to using a Streamlight 18650 is a huge bonus (and money saver!) along with better output ratings, for sure, a winner in my book!
Solid, reliable and bright
I bought this tactical flashlight 500 lumens for my wife to replace the cheap flashlight she carried in her car. I was so impressed that I bought one for myself. I had a building job on the farm run well into the night. I set the light on a bucket, shining on my work area, and it gave me more than enough light to finish the job. Also, the clip on the light is great. You can clip it to your hat and instantly have a headlamp. I love this light. I didn't rate water resistance because I haven't gotten mine wet. It takes a while to charge the battery but it lasts longer than I expected. I carry some spare disposable batteries as a backup but have not had to use them.
I needed a good flashlight for my job (general maintenance and HVAC work). I'd been using a 272-lumen maglite, and I found it didn't provide enough light for certain situations, and I wouldn't say I liked that it wouldn't stand upright on its own very well. The Streamlight 88063 protac 2l-x has plenty of light output. Too much, in some cases, which is why I'm glad it has a low mode. It also stands upright with no hassle, which is a huge plus for me, as a lot of my work takes place in dark areas where I need to use both of my hands (under sinks, in drop ceilings, etc.) The fact that it takes 18650 rechargeable batteries is nice, too—kind of disappointing that they only give you a single 18650 for a $20 price premium. I can't stand around and wait for several hours for my battery to recharge if it dies in the middle of my day. Instead, I bought the standard version and got an EBL kit with four batteries and a charging dock for right around $20.
5.0 out of 5 stars Really great for EDC (Every Day Carry).. small and powerful, easily rechargeable.
I bought the streamlight protac 2l x flashlight on the recommendation of John Lovell, Warrior Poet of Youtube fame. Though he reviewed the previous model, which didn't come with the rechargeable battery, he had to provide that extra, making this one an even more excellent value. I've had a couple of EDC flashlights before, but what you get with sub-standard lights is a button that isn't recessed.... three modes low, bright and flashing, then the stupid light cycles through those with each momentary press. Not so with this one, you can re-program it to stay on low, or bright, or flashing, or to cycle.. or something like that. I have it on high, so I get all the power, all the time. It's small enough to comfortably fit in the pocket with the clip attached to the outside of the pocket, and it doesn't have a large head, which many to. It also has a wider beam than most, which shows it's quality. When cheaper mfgs focus the beam narrowly, they can claim more lumens to claim 500 lumens with a wide beam? That takes real power, which this light has. And it's rechargeable, and the recharge port is ON the battery, so you have to remove the battery and charge it, so there's no stupid little plastic plug that never seats properly or gets torn off thus THIS light maintains is waterproofness... is that a word? Waterproofness?
A very tough and long-lasting flashlight
The Streamlight ProTac 2L-X is a very tough and long-lasting flashlight. It goes every where I go, and it doesn't seem like a big deal because it's not all that heavy. The clip is great. I wear thick jeans, and the clip hasn't lost its stiffness. Overall a excellent light
Streamlight designs its flashlight in such a way that it is customized to a particular profession or purpose. Hunters love the Streamlight Stinger series in a compact package for their super-bright results, yet are also rechargeable and almost indestructible. Law enforcement and the shooting community love the Streamlight TLR Series bright light, toughness, and long-lasting quality. Based on the success of the Streamlight TLR-1 light, they have made several newer versions like the Streamlight TLR-2 weapon light with Laser. Now, Streamlight has produced the TLR-3, TLR-4, TLR-6, TLR-7 and TLR-8 tactical flashlights. The Streamlight stylus pro has been designed for those who need a bright LED light in difficulty reaching nooks and crannies, such as the engine interiors that mechanics need to see or the different angles of a crime scene that forensic specialists need to inspect. Whatever the specifications, Streamlight aims to provide you with the best lighting solution possible. The bottom line is this - if you want a flashlight that is there for you every shift, holds a charge all night and puts out plenty of light in police or tactical situations, you can't go wrong with a Streamlight brand light.
