*NOTE: The Magpul AK Handguard is a direct replacement for standard AK-47/AKM/AK-74 pattern Handguards and utilizes the existing Handguard retaining cap with (or without) sling loop.
Due to the wide range of tolerances of your typical AK, minor fitting may be required. Not compatible with Yugo pattern rifles or RPK style receivers.

Hands down the best AK handguard ever

The Magpul MOE AKM is by far the best ak handguard I have ever used. Just took it out to the range today and after quick mag dumps (barrel smoking) the handguard stayed very cool and comfortable to hold. My old factory handguard would warp and get uncomfortably hot even with slow, paced shooting. Installation was common sense. To reference the three reviews below which were written by the same dude from Alabama (lol)... the handguard is not that hard to install. The reason your handguard retainer isn't closing is that you did not seat the handguard all the way. A tap with a rubber mallet will seat it correctly in the receiver, and then the retaining latch will close with ease. (Did this on a gp75 from century and it worked just fine.) The upper handguard is a little bit more challenging to get on, but with a c-clamp or vise to hold gas tube is a breeze.

As the title implies, I put this on an AK with a 1.5mm receiver; I had to do some minor adjusting which added but two minutes to my 6 minutes install time. Love the look and how high the bottom handguard goes. I plan to use a Magpul in the future and should look even better with this. I bought this to replace my old poly furniture and am very happy with the swap. Looks sharp with the MOE stock and SI AK grip I also threw on the rifle.
