Choosing the right Magpul Stock for you rifle

Among a vast number of modern American weapons intended for hunting and sport, for the average American civilian shooter, the most attractive model is a small variation of the Eugene Stoner`s timeless solution. In the U.S. market, these guns are considered "Barbies for men," since the offer of additional and interchangeable parts are impressive. As the M4/M4A1 5.56mm Carbine is now the standard issue weapon for most formations in the U.S. military, the firearms industry has offered a semiautomatic version to civilians with many aftermarket parts.

When we talk about long gun parts, undoubtedly, the informed public would agree that the shoulder stock is one of the most underestimated, yet crucial, roles of the weapon. An old saying is claiming that rifle shoots but the stock hits. This article explores one impressive upgrade coming from Magpul, a respectable company known for manufacturing of firearms accessories.

What people are saying about Magpul Stocks:

One of the best stocks on the market

Magpul once again delivers with the CTR. Locks up with no play - on par with a fixed stock. The MilSpec Tube model DOES include the rubber buttpad. Shoulders exceptionally well and is one of the most comfortable stocks I've used. Well worth the upgrade cost over a standard CAR/M4 stock. I'd have no reservations recommending the commercial version either - Magpul quality speaks for itself.

Magpul Quality Stock

I wasn't happy with how the Standard 6-position AR-15 Stock wobbles around, really annoying to me. I went with the Magpul CTR and couldn't be happier. Magpul quality fit and finish, positive locking and engagement, look great, etc. Another reliable Magpul Stock was must-have for AR fans. I would suggest getting the .70" extended pad for shooters that prefer long pull like myself.

Best Stock For The Money

Added this Magpul SGA stock to an 870 Police Magnum and was instantly impressed with the first shouldering. The grip angle is comfortable and natural, and the cheek weld will immediately put you on sight. LOP is extremely easy to adjust. Assembly instructions are included but almost not needed. What is great is the butt pad, absorbs recoil like a sponge. 3" Magnum slugs are fun to shoot again.

High Quality, Great Fit.

If you're like me, you are debating between the lower cost Magpul moe stock and the higher cost CTR and wondering if the CTR's fancy friction lock is worth 2x the price. After installing the MOE on my carbine, I'm glad I went with the MOE instead of buying the more expensive CTR. Most people will say a mil-spec buffer tube will have a 1.14" diameter, but its closer to if not right at 1.15" (varies between 1.147-1.150), which is also supported by the documentation included with the MOE. The fit on my particular rifle is as close to perfect I could hope for. There is almost no side to side/twisting play in the stock, with only a small amount of forwarding/backward play once locked into position. But because the Magpul stock is such a snug fit on the receiver tube, you have to physically push/pull the capital to experience the forward/backward play. This Magpul stock fits/feels much more comfortable against my shoulder that the standard collapsible carbine stock it replaced. The contour feels more natural compared with the flat buttplate of the standard collapsible stock. Finally, the locking lever is very sturdy with no play, unlike the lever on the standard stock, which was free to move/shake and make noise every time the rifle was moved. That was more of an annoyance if anything else. If you simply MUST have the QD sling mount and the tactic-cool factor, or you're a precision shooter, then spend your money on the CTR. But if you are just looking to replace your standard collapsible carbine stock with something that is "night and day" better, please purchase the MOE.

Great AR Stock

I have used the Magpul MOE, CTR, STR, and UBR before this. The Magpul MOE-SL is the perfect balance of all of those. It is super tight (CTR/STR clamp-like without the pinch). I have read that it is the most robust Magpul stock behind the UBR. It weighed in at 9.7 ounces on my scale vs. 9.0 ounces for my CTR, so its pretty light. The QD swivel area is also better than the MOE/CTR/STR as it has more room to turn. The cheek weld area is slightly better than a CTR. Unless you need UBR toughness (and a full pound more) or storage, then this is a perfect stock for an AR15.

Great!

I bought this Magpul Zhukov stock from MSP to replace the stock on my 84S (Chinese AK clone in 5.56 cal). Right out of the box, I was impressed by the quality and features of the Magpul stock, and it displayed the quality that I have come to expect from Magpul products. However, if you are buying this to install on a Chinese rifle such as a MAK-90 or Type 56S, be aware that some modification of the stock will be necessary, as the Chinese AK rifles have a more extended tang and different bolt spacing than European Comm-Bloc rifles. Ten minutes with a Dremel and needle file, and I was in business. The stock locks uptight, and the spring detent that keeps it in the folded position is a nice touch. Overall it is the best option for a folding stock that I have found for the AK, as it does not require modification to your weapon.

Awesome 10/22 stock

if you want to upgtade to awesome Ruger 10/22 Stock, buy this Magpul hunter x22. Super easy to install. It fits both the standard barrel profile and the bull barrel profile just by changing the layout of the supplied tray. Mine came with the standard barrel profile already setup. Installs in minutes and gives an excellent feel to the rifle. Usually the stock rifle stock is "ok," but mine, when you shook the gun, made a clang type noise. As soon as I installed the Magpul x22 Stock, it was gone. Plus, it has the new Magpul m-lok slots. You can beat it with a stick. It comes with additional spacers for the length of pull adjustment.
