Mesa Tactical LEO Telescoping Mossberg 500 Stock Adapter (12-GA and 20-GA)
The LEO adapter, manufactured for the Mossberg 500/590 features a lowered stock elevation allowing the use of iron sights or even the bead sight. LEO adapters also accept optional stamped steel sling loop and hook loops. The LEO's low price and streamlined appearance make it the best choice for agencies looking for a simple, reliable telescoping stock at an affordable price.
Mesa Tactical is a pioneer in the development of telescoping stocks for tactical shotguns. Telescoping stocks are necessary for operators wearing body armor, or for smaller statured shooters; a telescoping stock provides the length of pull the situation demands.
The concept behind the telescoping stock system is simple: the shotgun's factory stock is replaced by an adapter, to which standard AR-15 grips and telescoping buttstocks can be reliably attached. All of Mesa Tactical stock adapters are investment cast aircraft aluminum, which are then CNC machined before being anodized with a Type III Class 2 mil-spec finish.

Bad machining on receiver extension threads
I will either be sending it back for a replacement or a refund. The machining on the inside threads is bad. Email I sent to Mesa Tactical on 06/24/21. "I recently purchased a Mesa Tactical LEO Telescoping stock adapter for Mossberg 500 (12-GA and 20-GA) from Mounting Solutions Plus. My question is the following; how "loose"/"wobble" should the receiver extension fit into the adaptor? My mil-spec receiver extension (and two others I have tried) are extremely sloppy and wobble when threaded into the adaptor prior to tightening the castle nut. I have a short video of the "loose"/"wobbly" fit along with a photo of the threaded area of the adaptor and a copy of my receipt from Mounting Solutions Plus. Is this wobble "normal"? Or is this a factory manufacturing defect of some kind on this particular adapter? To me it seems as if the threads insde the adaptor are barely able to hold the receiver extension in place."
Mossberg 500 stock adapter
I had wanted to try a setup like this for a while. Tax time came around, so I made the jump. I purchased the entire Mesa Tactical setup for a Mossberg 590SP I had also just purchased. Installation is straight forward. If you've done any stock swapping or building of an AR15 style rifle, you probably won't even have to look at the instructions. The stock adapter itself is ROBUST. I've looked at other stock adapters for various shotguns, and I'm happy I spent the extra money on this one. Nice and thick in all the right places, and for being aluminum, it has some nice heft to it. I've only just put it on and not even shot the shotgun yet, but I don't see how this thing would ever fail. Even the finish looks and feels thick and sturdy. Sure, there are cheaper options out there, but after seeing some of them up close, and considering the real power of a shotgun, I'd seriously question their reliability. I found out the hard way that not all aftermarket stocks are created equal to another Mossberg I have. Plus, this one gives you the option to choose any MIL-SPEC type AR stock of your choice. In my case, the Magpul CTR. Just a word of note to potential buyers. Be careful about which pistol grip you order for this adapter. Any pistol grip with the thumb cushion will not fit, and you will need to cut the curved part flush, so it sits on the adapter at a 90-degree angle. I didn't realize this and ordered the Magpul MOE+. Not a huge deal, and nothing a few minutes with a hack saw won't solve, but it doesn't specify on the site, and some might be irritated by that. Magpul and Hogue both make a grip that will slip on without modification, though. MSP, as usual, fast shipping and excellent customer service! No complaints on either here!
Great fit, strong with purpose
This is exactly what I needed. The fit is perfect for my shockwave, And with a pistol tube and a KAK brace, it has the rear reinforcement that I wanted. Now this thing is robust enough that I know It’ll withstand heavy use.
very solid tactical stock system
I originally was going to go with a folding stock on my Mossberg 500 but decided to build with Mesa Tactical LEO Stock Adapter. The cost a little more when you add all the parts (AR stock, buffer tube, pistol grip). However well worth it. It makes a very solid tactical stock system that will take a lot of punishment.
Great setup for a Mossberg 500a
I attached the Purchase Mesa LEO Adapter for my old Mossberg 500a to correct the length of pull for me, works excellent now. Its time to hang some more Magpul on it. I will say this, once this is installed using the action release is more than a bit tricky, but shoten armory makes a great product to fix that.
Very solid product
I had wanted to try the Mesa LEO Stock Adapter for awhile. Some extra mondy came around, so I made the plunge. I bought the entire Mesa Tactical setup for a Mossberg 590SP. Indeed, there are more economical options out there, but after seeing some of them up close, and considering the real power of a shotgun, I'd sincerely question their reliability. I found out the hard way that not all aftermarket stocks are built equally on another Mossberg I have. Plus this one gives you the option to choose any MIL-SPEC type AR stock of your choice. In my case, the Magpul CTR. Just a word of note to potential buyers. Be cautious about which pistol grip you buy for this adapter. Any pistol grip with the thumb cushion will not fit, and you will need to cut the curved part flush, so it sits on the adapter at a 90-degree angle. I didn't realize this and ordered the Magpul MOE+. Buffer tube will be at an upward angle.
Mates to my Mossberg receiver just fine. Pistol grip mounting is good. Problem I have is the buffer tube is angled upward. My cheek weld is too high, compared to a stock. I'm looking at the top of the receiver, if the tube was at the correct angle the top of the receiver should disappear.
Mesa Tactical adapter, you want it!
I bought this to install on my Mossberg Shockwave and it works perfectly coupled with the SB-tactical SBA-3 brace! The angle coming off the receiver is straight instead of angled down. This is a much better product than the ERGO adapter in my opinion! Buy it! You won’t be disappointed!
If cosmetics and build quality matter, look for alternatives!!
2 stars is generous. And thats only because the over priced adapter allowed me to fit a collapsable stock and pistol grip. The piece is cast from very pourous aluminum, and the finish is very bad, and the machining for the buffer tube to screw into, was off centered causing the threads to be extremely shallow on one side. The piece did assemble and install easily, and im content with it, even though it is overpriced for the “quality” you get. The function is perfect though, so that is mostly what i paid for. Mounts plus is one of my favorite places to buy parts, so this review is NO reflection on them. Just buy the cheapest version of this you can find, because you will regret paying a premium price for this.
Overall well made product.
Works fantastic, looks ok.
This stock adapter works as advertised 100% and was super easy to install. My only complaint is that the fit and finish of the adapter was a little sloppy. The finish was lightly scratched off in a few places, and the trigger guard did not fit completely flush to the adapter, but not a deal breaker.
