Mesa Tactical Side Saddle SureShell Carrier for Remington 870/1100/11-87 (6-Shell, 12-GA)

This Mesa Tactical SureShell shotshell carrier for the Remington 870, 1100 or 11-87 has a six-shell configurations. Carriers can also be installed pointed back toward the stock.

The principle difference between one model of Mesa Tactical Side Saddle and another, aside from capacity, is the backing plate, which is designed to mount the carrier assembly on a particular model of shotgun. Side-mount SureShell Side Saddle shotshell carriers for Mossberg , Remington and Benelli M1 shotguns use the trigger group pin holes to secure the assemblies to the weapon; the Benelli M2 Tactical, Benelli M4/M1014, Benelli SuperNova Tactical and some Mossberg 500/590 versions take advantage of the factory-tapped rail mounting holes in the tops of these shotguns and include integrated Pictanny optics mounting rails; another version with an integrated rail is the saddle-mount design for Remington; SureShell Side Saddle Carriers for M4 SOPMOD stocks feature special hardware for attachment to these buttstocks; Adapter Mount SureShell shotshell carriers are designed to be attached to Mesa Tactical Telescoping Stock Adapter accessory mount points.

    Best 870 Side Saddle

Reasonably easy to install, very well designed. Holds shotshells securely, isn't as bulky as some others on the market. Metal body, not plastic, so don't worry about it breaking from being dropped or smashed against a wall or w/e.

The aluminum mesa tactical Sureshell carrier feels sturdy and the stick-on pad for the plate to protect

Works as advertised. The aluminum mesa tactical Sureshell carrier feels sturdy, and the stick-on pad for the plate to protect the shotgun finish is a nice touch. The rubber insert holds the shells well, and according to the included documentation, Mesa Tactical will replace the inserts for free if they ever wear out. I thought this was a better situation than to have a plastic shell holder that would require an entire replacement if it ever wore out. This six-shot carrier also works fine in conjunction with the Magpul MOE forend on my Remington 870.

I'm not sure of the other companies and went with the idea; you get what you pay for. Fits and works great do exactly what it's supposed to do. Install was a cinch. The shotgun comes with a six shot tube, so got this for an additional six shots! I've read reviews about other having issues with these being too long to chamber or dispense a shell?? I'm not sure what that issue is about, but it fits awesome for mine. Shells are held in by a piece of the rubberish tube they call elastomer, which is Santoprene thermoplastic... I'll just say rubber for short. It comes with two. One pre-installed black colored, which is the softer one, and one white colored one, which is the stiffer one to hold the shells in tighter for more rougher use. Also, it comes with a super-thin 3m rubber tape to guard this thing against scratching the side of the gun. I definitely got what I paid for!!

Mesa Tactical Side Saddle is worth the extra money

Puts additional shells in the perfect position for tactical reloads. The construction of this item is rock solid; you will not be disappointed with the extra money spent. Plastic carriers cannot compare. The serial is not obstructed with this piece installed, and the hardware used to mount it is high quality. I could not be more satisfied with this purchase. In my opinion, one of the best upgrades you can make to your 12 gauge. Please note I installed on the IAC Hawk 982 (870 clones), and it fit perfectly; no issues at all. The shells are secure, yet quickly accessible with a twist out and this carrier feels like it can take years of abuse... overall, an excellent product!

The mesa tactical 870 side saddle is high quality!

I Installed this side-saddle on my Remington 870 earlier today. This side saddle is a bit pricey; however, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! Before attempting to install this side-saddle, make sure that your weapon is unloaded and safe so that no accidents happen inadvertently. I would recommend installing the included adhesive "rubbery-pad" onto the back of the side saddle, not only to protect the finish of the weapon, but I believe it will help with shock absorption (loosening of the bolts, etc.). I also believe that it provides a better mounting surface than just metal to metal. I definitely had to fiddle with the trigger assembly on my weapon while attempting to push the "Chicago bolts" through the receiver. I also had an issue (completely my fault) with the hex head of one of the bolts partially rounding off, because the Allen key wasn't properly seated flush in the hex head. I have contacted the seller regarding replacement hardware and will update my review accordingly. Other than those minute "hiccups," the install went quickly and pain-free using the instructions. The side saddle holds 12 gauge shotgun shells securely but also includes another piece of "elastomer," that will hold shells even more securely, if necessary. NOTE: Make sure that the forend doesn't overlap the receiver with the action open on your weapon, or you are not able to properly operate the action on your weapon after the side saddle is installed. A solution to this is either to purchase a new forend (the Magpul one I found on Amazon works great!) or to modify the stock forend on your weapon. I would recommend this item, with no reserves, to anyone that has a compatible weapon that is in the market for a side-saddle.

This Mesa Side Saddle is a very high-quality accessory to any tactical shotgun. It is very well made, fits perfectly on my 870, and holds shells with just the right amount of tension. Don't waste your money on plastic parts. This shell holder is built to last. It looks great too! I highly recommend it.

. The option to change the tension holding the shells was a great idea . Though I found the installed band held just fine humping through the woods. Its more money than the plastic saddles available but aircraft aluminum is not going to crack in berry cold conditions
