This review is for anyone who wants to install a mossberg magpul forend on a Mossberg 500 with a 6 & 3/4 inch action tube. The Magpul MOE forends are designed for the 7 & 3/4 inch action tube, so you'll need a Hogue adapter nut and modifications to the forend. Note 1. The adapter nut is for a Hogue stock, so you'll need to modify the Magpul forend, but it's cheaper than buying a new action tube. 2. Installing a forend not designed for your gun will require some modifications. If you already own a Magpul forend, you'll find the original nut won't fit and the same goes for the Hogue adapter nut. The Magpul forend has a small collar for the nut to fit into, but it will need to be modified for the adapter nut to slide in (remove the "shoulder" the nut would normally press against). I used a sanding drum attached to a cordless drill to expand the front of the forend to fit the adapter nut. Once installed, the forend will fit your 6 & 3/4 inch action tube and can only be distinguished by small sanding marks if removed and inspected inside.

I highly recommend the Magpul forend for the Mossberg 500. It is incredibly comfortable and well worth the price tag. The product itself is excellent, but I had to modify it to fit correctly with my heat shield. I used a piece of leather and vice to push in the sides of the heat shield and then used a Dremel and fine grit sandpaper to file down the forend where it was still rubbing. Despite the extra effort, the Magpul forend is well worth it compared to the stock option. It may still rub on my heat shield and leave some marks, but overall I am delighted with this product.

It looks and feels great on my Mossberg 500! I did have to replace my action tube to install this part, but it was super easy to do (once I found a replacement action tube that was actually in stock!). It was a pleasant surprise to get the forend wrench included. I use my Mossberg for both home defense and field, so the MLOK system makes changing out accessories a breeze.

Added to my Mossburg 500 Persuader. Fits perfect and only took about 5 minutes to install. The only thing is it will only fit if you have the 7 3/4 action tube assembly.

Put this on my Mossberg 500SP (special purpose), and it fit perfectly with no modifications. Fits tight and well with zero problems. This forend is fantastic for keeping your fingers and thumb from getting burned on a hot barrel because the side goes up next to the barrel and provide much more gripping surface for your hands. I highly recommend.

Works fine with my Mossberg 500. I took off my heatshield to install a Black Aces rail, so I didn't have to worry about running into that factory heatshield/forend issue. I love the way it turned out.

For the Mossy 500 Cruiser with the Breacher barrel, no need to buy any additional parts. Everything you need is in the box. ******For Mossy 500 Cruiser owners**** The MAGPUL instructions say to use the 414-0081 Insert for the Mossberg 500 and 590 and to use the 414-0082 Insert for the 590A1. The Insert for the 590A1 is the one that works on my Cruiser 500. The suggested insert will bind on the barrel as you pull back on the forend because the barrel is tapered. Cycle about 40 times and it'll be smooth as butter.

Fits my Mossberg 500, but will require some sanding if you have the barrel heat shield. I git it to work but had to sand the insides of the handguard to get it to pump right. Like the way it transformed my shotgun.

I am writing this review for anyone wanting to install a Magpul forend on their Mossberg 500 with a 6 & 3/4 inch action tube as Magpul moe forends are designed for the 7 & 3/4 action tube. You will need the Hogue adapter nut, and you'll need to modify the forend slightly. Keep in mind: 1. The adapter nut is a Hogue nut designed for a Hogue stock. So you'll have to modify the Magpul forend, but it's cheaper than a new action tube. 2. You're trying to make a forend fit that wasn't designed for your gun. Obviously, it'll take some small modification. If you already have a Magpul forend you'll notice the original nut will not slide into the front of the forend; such is the case with the Hogue adapter nut as well. The Magpul forend is designed with a small collar to go around the nut, and then the nut jams itself against a shoulder in the front of the forend. After you buy the nut, you will need to modify your Magpul forend slightly so that the adapter nut will slide into the front of the forend (you'll need to remove the small "shoulder" the nut would normally press against). I did not have a Dremel to do this with so I bought a small sanding drum (1/4") and stuck it on my cordless drill and began expanding the front of of the Magpul forend(this is inside the forend and cannot be seen once installed). As soon as it was large enough to slip the new adaptor nut inside the forend (snug fit) the new forend fit my 6 & 3/4 action tube like it was made for it. Once you've done this there is no way to tell the Magpul forend wasn't designed for your shorter action tube unless you remove it completely, look inside, and see some small sanding marks. I hope this helps save some money for those that want this forend without buying a new action tube. Worked excellent on my Remington 870 12ga. Very simple to put on, but you gotta be careful, or you'll scratch the gun. Looks cool on there and holds the shells pretty good also.

When I purchased my Mossberg 590 A 1 the forearm just did not have the right feel about it. After purchasing and easily installing a Magpul forearm my shotgun now looks and feels good, making the slide work better and improving my shooting. Get one for your shotgun, you will appreciate it.
