    Outstanding quality

At first, I bought the Vortex 2-7 scope for my M1A Scout rifle, but I returned it after just one day at the range. I have since purchased this Burris Scout scope, and I can immediately tell the difference in quality when mounting it. The glass and metal feel much more solid and durable, and it aligns perfectly with the rifle. I also invested in the Burris 1 inch mounting rings, which were definitely worth the extra $50. If you're willing to spend a bit more, you'll definitely get more in terms of quality and performance. I highly recommend this scope to anyone with an M1A Scout rifle or any variant that requires long eye relief.

Five shots to zero and it's a laser

I installed this scope on my Ruger Gunsite Scout and found the eye relief to be perfect. I zeroed the scope at a 50-yard lane with 3x magnification and it only took five shots and two adjustments to get it right. Once it was zeroed, I hit the center of the target with the next five shots, and then proceeded to hit every number on the target. With confidence, I moved up to 100 yards at 5x magnification and was blown away. The bullet drop compensation points seemed to be tailored to the .308 because I didn't need to adjust the sight; I simply raised up to the second point and it was like shooting a laser beam. I've since tested it at much longer ranges in the wild and it has yet to disappoint me. Although the price of this scope may seem steep, if you've already invested in a high-quality rifle, it's worth it to invest in the perfect scope to go along with it. Don't hesitate to get this scope; you won't regret it.

    Very nice SCOUT scope

Until recently, I was not familiar with what a SCOUT scope was. The primary differences are (1) relatively low magnification and (2) VERY long eye relief, ranging from 8 to 10 inches. This design allows for more visual context outside the scope, which, combined with the lower magnification, enables faster target acquisition. I purchased this scope for wild pig hunting, which is prevalent in the cropland near my area. Wild pig hunting typically involves short distance shots of 20-30 yards, making 2x or 3x magnification sufficient at the low end of the scope's setting. The wider visual context offered by the long eye relief greatly aids in the speed of acquisition. Even when cranked up to 7x (the maximum magnification of this scope), it is still effective for longer shots, reaching out to about 100 yards based on my personal eyeballs (though others may have different experiences).

After its first day on the range I was very happy with it

I mounted the Burris Scout scope in the forward position on my M1A Scout Squad and was very pleased with its performance after the first day on the range. I zeroed the scope at 100 yards and, after making a few adjustments, achieved a perfect zero. The ballistic plex feature works well, but it's important to find the exact holds for each type of round (308/762x51) being used. Burris provides dope card stickers that can be used to mark the holds for each tac mark on the plex. One of the best aspects of this scope is its reflex feel. It can be quickly used as a fast fighting optic at a lower power or zoomed out to 7 for long-range shots while prone. It's great for a designated marksman or scout type rifle and fire team member. The only drawback I have noticed with this optic is that bright light or bright colors behind the user may cause reflections in the scope's glass. However, aside from that minor issue, the Burris Scout scope is an impressive piece of equipment.

The Burris Scout scope is an outstanding replacement for my previous Burris 2.75 scout scope, which had nothing wrong with it. I decided to purchase this scope because it offers the option to focus out the 32 mm from 2 to 7 Moa, a feature that my previous scope did not have. Additionally, I purchased the Warner scope mounts, which were supposed to fit my rail but unfortunately did not fit my rifle. However, I kept the mounts and used them on another rifle that needed a scope. After mounting the scope and borescoping the rifle, I headed to the range and fired the first three rounds at 100 yards, which landed 1/2 inch to the left of the bull with a 1/4 to 1/2 inch grouping. I then fired three sets of 12 rounds and the results were awesome. I have since fired approximately 500 rounds with this scope and have not made any dope changes. The scope functions flawlessly, whether at 25 yards or out to 200 yards. If you are looking for a forward-mounted scout scope, I highly recommend the Burris Scout scope. Enough said!

    Great scope for M1A

I mounted the Burris Scout scope on the forward rail of my new M1A SOCOM, but initially had trouble zeroing the rifle due to running out of adjustment. After having Burris inspect the scope and finding no issues, I discovered that the mounting rail was out of alignment and sent the rifle back to Springfield for correction. Now, the scope is centered and sighted in at 100 yards, and I have checked the ballistic reticle out to 300 yards with success. I am confident in my ability to hit targets up to 300 yards, which is all I need. I have not missed a shot with this scope yet. I appreciate the long eye relief and the fact that the scope is completely out of the way when shell casings are ejected. The scope also received excellent support from Burris. The only drawback I have noticed with the scope is that it performs poorly in low-light conditions. I typically have to stop hunting about 10 minutes earlier with this scope compared to the larger scope on my bolt action rifle. However, this is simply a limitation of the scope, and not necessarily a flaw. Overall, I am very happy with the Burris Scout scope.

    First scout scope,

This was my first experience using a long eye relief scope with both eyes open. As someone who shoots with their right eye but is left eye dominant, I initially struggled to maintain focus with my right eye while keeping both eyes open. However, after some practice, I was able to achieve this and it was a very cool experience. I no longer have to deal with scope tunnel vision and can even spot other game with my non-dominant eye. If you're cross eye dominant like me and considering a scope like this, it can work. Of course, you can also use a single eye if you prefer. To have a good full sight picture, I found that I needed to mount the scope all the way forward on the M77, which provided about 12" of eye relief. The windage and elevation adjustments were quick and precise, although the scope was quite off zero out of the box. I started with a bore sighting to make the necessary adjustments.

The best scout scope for an M1A Scout - awesome clarity, quality, and warranty!

    Date: March 6, 2023

Based on extensive research and hands-on inspection of multiple models from reputable brands such as Leupold, Burris, Nikon, and Leatherwood, I can confidently say that the Burris Scout 2-7 x 32 Ballistic Plex Scope is the best variable-power scout scope available in the market. The Burris Scout scope features bright and crisp optics, a sharp and thin reticle for precise aiming, and ballistic drop marks for shooting at varying and extended distances without having to adjust the windage and elevation knobs. The variable magnification adjustment knob is low-profile and stiff enough to stay on the desired setting under recoil or minor bumps and jostles in a range bag. Mounted on a Springfield M1A Scout Squad using Burris XTR "Low" rings, the Burris Scout scope sits low enough to provide a natural, nearly perfect cheek weld on the standard stock without the need for a riser. However, some may still want to add a 1/4" to 1/2" riser pad for a more solid and consistent cheek weld. This mounting position is much lower than that of traditional scopes mounted over the action, and it provides plenty of clearance for casings to eject naturally or access the action for clearing a jam. At 2X magnification, the Burris Scout scope offers a decently generous eyebox that is easy to find for snap shots, and it is easy to align for a crisp picture up to 5X or 6X. Only at 7X is the eyebox narrow/unforgiving, requiring exact alignment behind the reticle to see clearly. However, the scope tolerates variable head placement as well as or better than any of the other options compared. The rear edge of the scope is placed approximately 1/8" rear of the chamber to provide plenty of clearance for casings and a bright, clear picture almost anywhere the shooter can put their head on the stock. Burris provides a lifetime, transferrable warranty, making the scope a reliable and durable investment. While the Leatherwood Hi-Lux LER scope and Nikon Force ER are good alternatives, the Burris Scout scope's clarity, durability, unbeatable warranty, and company reputation for excellent service make it the top choice. The Burris Scout scope can be found at an excellent deal of $313 on Amazon. The only potential improvement for the Burris Scout scope would be to allow the low end of the magnification to dial down to 1X or 1.5X for even faster sight acquisition at extremely close distances. However, at 2X magnification, the scope is still quick enough for hog hunting. Finally, the Vortex Optics Flip Cap Optic Cover, Size 4, fits both ends of the Burris Scout scope snugly, folding open almost 270 degrees and nearly laying flat across the scope. The semi-flexible vinyl-like material that attaches over the end of the scope fits snugly and hangs on under recoil.

I purchased the Burris Scout Scope soon after it came out, I had trouble finding any reliable reviews but had had positive experiences with the Burris pistol scopes in the same format. I mounted the Burris scout on my Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle with Warne quick detach low rings, and it fits perfectly. It sit about as low as you can mount a scope and still be functional. I had to install the scope pretty far forward to get my eye relief but still have a little room to the front with the stock rail on my Gunsite and only one spacer on my but stock. At the range, the scope continued to impress in dialed in nicely with smooth transitions and easy adjustments. The variable zoom is excellent, understand that the field of view at 7x will be significantly reduced do to the extended eye relief. The scope has held zero after several trips to the range. Overall I am happy with this product and have yet to find any drawbacks.

After purchasing a very similar but a much less quality (and price) optics, this scout scopes is a thing of beauty in all regards. I installed mine on an M1A Scout Squad and could not be happier. Using a laser bore sighter, and six rounds later, I was hitting a 5in target at 200yds without fail. Yes, this scope is made overseas, but it is built to Burris standards. You won't find a variable magnification Scout Scope that is made in the U.S.!

Setting up my first "scout scope rifle" made me realize that it's tough to get much magnification with the extended eye relief needed. Most seem to have a fixed 2.5x or 2.75x, and that's it. But I'm SOO happy I went with this Burris scout scope and wound up with a 2-7x power scope at the touch of my fingers. Awesome optics. Awesome scope. Worth the extra cost to get the additional magnification.
