There are two significant differences between this charger and the standard one. The front part of it that goes into the gas tube is a bit bigger than the standard. This is to channel gas to rearward rather than all around. Then on the rear of the charger, you'll notice deep grooves that cut to the right. This is so that gas that comes rearward is channeled to the right away from your face. So, in summary, if you're a left-hand shooter, don't get this because it's still going to blast gas in your face, but now even more precisely. And secondly, don't get this thinking it's going to blast all of the gas away. It's still blasting gas to your face but just taking away most of the gas to the right. I gave it four stars, though because the big latch sort of slips with one finger grab. I slapped myself in the face because my finger slipped.

I got a lot of gas up my nose when shooting. Put handle in and the problem disappeared plus larger latch helps when gripping handle one-handed. Won't snag like other tactical latches.

Works great on my suppressed rifle that uses direct impingement gas system, which is the only rifle that needs this item. Just a note in case you haven't thought this through, If you have a gas piston rifle then this handle won't make any difference.

I purchased this because I've been told by others that it would help getting "gassed" in the face when shooting suppressed. The blowback was horrible when shooting with the can on, and this reduced 80-85% of the blowback—no more burning eyes or coughing while shooting. I've used this in two different Panther Arms uppers for these results. I think some uppers based on the cuts could still allow gas through. This redirects it to the left, following the channel that has been cut into the bottom. Very well made too!

This charging handle is a definite plus for anyone with a short barrel or is using high pressure reloads, and a must-have when running a suppressor. Average shooters who aren't using one of those platforms are probably not getting much gas in their face in the first place and would not need it.

The PRI Gasbuster are my preferred AR charging handles and Are one of the first AR accessories I first add on a rifle. I have a few military clone rifles that I use them on, and they reduce the gas blowback. I like the big latch, and for my rifles that don’t have the gas buster on them, I have the PRI big latch installed on the factory charging handle to give all my rifles the same feel.

I really think the PRI gas buster is a big advancement over the factory AR charging handles. It is easier to operate under range drills and tactical situations with its combat latch and added size of the AR charging handle. It looks great and functions flawlessly. The only difficulty I had was at the beginning because it did scrape on the top portion of the collapsible stock of my Colt 6920 just a bit. Not enough to cause any malfunctions, though, and after a few runs, it worked itself out.

This PRI Gas Buster works excellent on my suppressed rifle that uses a direct impingement gas system, which is the only AR that needs this item. Just a reminder in case you haven't considered this, If you have a gas piston AR-15 then this Charging Handle won't make any difference.
