My M1A has a composite stock. The stud was rubbing the bottom of the gas cylinder some filing was required on the threaded stud less than 2cm.It works as advertised. I have done some more research about why the hole is in the bottom of the stock some say it is to vent gases or moisture. I have had some second thoughts about mounting a bipod like that. I think a rail that mounts over the front OEM sling swivel would be better.
