A good alternative
It fits both the SOCOM 16 plastic, sorry synthetic, stock and military wood stocks. Does away with the heavy military Butt. It provides a better balance to the stock.
Definitely pares off excess weight on M14's
The m14 buttplate fit is good and I noticed the difference when I picked up the rifle. The downside is it's slippery on the shoulder.
Good, bad, ugly
Confirmed by other reviews, the good: Installed flawlessly, used existing hardware. The bad: It's all plastic, handle with care. The ugly: Despite its plain appearance, it's so unappealing it's attractive - a battle rifle after all. Plastic is somewhat more acceptable than metal.
Decent replacement, little pricey.
This m1a buttplate serves well as a replacement. I damaged my original through carelessness, with a leaky dehumidifier pack in my safe causing rust. This buttpad is extremely lightweight and rigid, a perfect match for my M1A synthetic stock. Both front and back screws fit snugly. I would have preferred more options for M1A buttpads, but this and some poorly fitting rubber options are the only ones available. My only concern is the lack of traction, as it feels slippery when shouldered. I'll have to test it at the range while standing and at the benchrest.
lightweight-smooth look
I'm pleased with the fit of the m1a buttplate, it provides a sleek appearance. Made of sturdy plastic, it doesn't have any flex. The hollow sound upon impact with a solid surface has been remedied by stuffing crumpled paper towel inside. The teeth provide sufficient grip. It doesn't increase length of pull and is lightweight. Overall, I'm satisfied with it.
