5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey, but worth it. Very tactical, exceptionally solid scope mount
This scope mount is easy to install and incredibly sturdy, as only a one-piece mount can be. Its high riser makes it ideal for AR-style rifles, and it attaches to picatinny rail systems rather than standard scope mounts. It's a top-quality product from Burris. The mount comes with standard smooth scope ring tops, as well as ring tops with built-in picatinny rails as pictured. I mount a red dot sight on top of my scope, which allows me to quickly acquire a sight picture at close range and use the scope for more accurate but slower shooting at farther ranges. The entire mount is attached to the rifle using two full-length guide bolts, and each ring has 6 hex bolts (3 on each side) for a secure mount. For the best fit, I suggest tightening them incrementally. The appropriate size allen wrench is included. Although this mount may be a bit pricey at close to $90, its unique design and tactical ability make it worth the investment. You could pay much more for a mount from Leupold or a similar brand, but this Burris product is just as good, if not better.
Works really well...Made in China though.
I bought this mount after reading recommendations from magazines and online sources. I was drawn to its minimal design and perceived durability. I installed a Weaver T-Series scope into the mount and then mounted it onto an AR-10 with ease. The setup process was straightforward and I didn't encounter any issues with sighting. I recommend applying a small dot of lock tight to each screw and being mindful of torque specifications. While I haven't tested it with 100 rounds yet, my rifle is relatively heavy and I believe that recoil is well-managed. However, I think that a lighter weapon with higher energy rounds could be more challenging. If I were to purchase this mount again, I would try to find one made in the US. I've had bad experiences with Chinese manufacturing, particularly with metallurgical issues, over the past year. I had assumed that Burris was a US-made product.
first I wasn't sure
I chose to purchase this Burris Peper 1 inch mount over some of the cheaper options based on recommendations from others who said that it was a high-quality product. Despite the higher cost, I opted for this mount because of its sturdiness and excellent construction. So far, I believe that it has been worth every penny. I own a Core 15 GTO AR-16 that came with a front sight post. I wanted to keep my sights while also being able to use an optic on my rifle, but the front sight post blocked any optics mounted to the receiver rail. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on fold-down sights, a gas block, or gunsmithing tools to modify my rifle permanently. After researching my options and talking to a friend who uses this mount on his AR, I decided to give it a try. I had some concerns about the scope pointing into the front sight post, but I was reassured that it wouldn't be a problem and that the scope would have a clear picture. I can confirm that this is indeed the case. I haven't experienced any problems with this mount, and I believe that it is the best product on the market. Although it may be more expensive than other options, I believe that the quality justifies the higher cost.
My Favorite AR Scope Mount
I have several AR 15 rifles. The Burris AR-pepr mount has been my favorite by far. The height is perfect, the mount seems to be very well made and the cantilever puts the eye relief right in the sweet spot. I am getting ready to order my third.
Burris 1" & 30mm dia. AR-PEPR scope
I purchased a 1" and a 30mm dia. Burris AR PEPR scope mounts to accommodate a Burris and Vortex scope for my AR rifles. Both scope mounts fit perfectly, and I was able to sight in within 4-5 shots. The Burris scope mount also allowed me to install a Caldwell brass catcher base mount just before the charging handle (back end of upper receiver Picatinny rail). With six screws per ring (12 screws total) I doubt this will ever come loose. The height of the mount is perfect for mounting a scope on a AR format rifle.
Looks good but......
I purchased a 30mm version of this Burris AR pepr mount for an AR15 for use with a Leupold VX-R. Even though it is made in China, I decided to try it out. The mount is well designed and has an excellent finish and fit. The sight height is excellent, and cantilever put it in a very intuitive position. All of this would be great if the scope mounting bore were parallel to the base. It puts the point of impact 6" low at 18 yards after my elevation is maxed out. I'm almost out of windage also but was able to get the point of impact centered.
Excellent product - glad I chose it
This Scope base installed very quickly on my Armalite - the adjustments to make sure the QD holds tight to the base are precise and easy, took less than 3 minutes. I installed a weaver scope and took the rifle to the field to sight in. Took the scope off and shot with a red dot for a while and re-installed the scope - shot in precisely the same spot as before - no problems what so ever. I would highly recommend the Burris ar-pepr mount.
great AR scope mount
Just put on my Burris AR PEPR 1" scope mount. The cantilever design allows you to mount it entirely to the upper receiver. Other mounts may require you to use your free float rail as well. If the upper receiver and the free float rail are not perfectly aligned or they shift relative to each other for any reason, you may have issues sighting in your scope. This is not detailed in the description, but it does come with the smooth ring tops like the quick-detach version that is $20 more. Aluminum construction, but still very solid. The two locking nuts could be a bit lower profile, but it is not so apparent once everything is mounted. They are reasonably priced too. I bought it based on the two recommendations on
Most Versatile to Use
The Burris AR-p.e.p.r Very well made mount puts scope out to a position where eye relief is perfect. Mounted the new Maglite XL200 (173 lumens) using Weaver 1" High Matt rings. This set up works well out to 100 yards and beyond in total darkness. A high quality/durable set up and looks good too.
awesome product
The Burris AR Pepr very well constructed scope mount, sits my Leupold mark ar as close to my Magpul buis as you can get wt out touching. The rails are nice for mounting reflex sights, lasers, or anti cant devices. The only way it could be better is if it had the throw lever set up, but for the price, i have no problem using a screw driver. the truth is once you mount a scope, you really don't go back to irons unless you have to, but even if you disagree i don't think its worth spending double the money to take a $2 screw driver or socket out of the picture. gave it five stars because it does what it should and looks good doing it.
Solid and "tactical."
I bought the permanent mount for a flat top AR. Put the scope in the perfect forward position with a notch to spare. A surprise was the extra set of top halves without the mini rail. I went with the rail tops for a sexier look. The three screws per side give it a brutish and tactical look. I also liked that the nuts on the rail clamp are hex instead of knurled. I considered buying the quick detach version, but I'm glad I didn't. Very happy with the purchase.
Impressive Mount
I bought the 1" rings / permanent mount for a more secure reason. It is "Proper Eye Position Ready." I paired it with a Bushnell AR Optics 4.5x18x40mm scope. I'm happy... (not recommended for light-weight applications)
