NcSTAR is a mainland Chinese company that produces short, cheap scopes for the AK & SKS platforms. Eventually, they brought out a scope base for the AK. A picatinny rail was riveted to an AK dustcover thus making a more stable & robust scope base. The latest model incorporates a micro dot base as well. The current model seems well made & fits most variants of the AK except Yugo/Zastava models. The picatinny rail looks like it was machined from aircraft grade alluminum while the dust cover where its attached is of standard stamped metal. With proper use & care, it should have a long service life. Most retailers are out of stock but I was lucky to find one from Mountng Solutions Plus. They're out of the base model too though ( without the micro dot base ). MSP also has fast shipping & easy ordering.

There’s a reason this this the most affordable receiver on the market. I followed the video instructions on how to file the mount correctly for my AK platform and still the cover does not fit properly and falls off with minimal movement.

I'm sure it would work great if I had an AK74 but it is definitely not compatible with my AK47. I wish it said that in the description but its whatever. The product feel nice and sturdy though and seems like a great price for the capabilities of this product. Would recommend to an AKM or AK74 owner
