Overall I am happy with this ar15 stock. However, when locked in place, there is still a small amount of movement of the stock on the buffer tube. It is significantly better than the factory stock, though, with respect to movement. My rifle is a S&W M&P 15 Sport (milspec buffer tube). I would have given it 5 stars if it were rock solid on the buffer tube.

Have 2 AR15s with the Magpul CTR stocks and have had no issue's with them. If the commercial version is installed on a mil-spec buffer tube (smaller in diameter), it will rattle; you must know what is installed on the rifle before ordering. Mil-Spec- 1.148", Commercial- 1.168", the threaded end is not the same either.

As noted in some other reviews, this stock is not necessarily a perfect tight fit when received. BUT it can be tweeked. If your stock is a bit loose when first installed, it can be fixed with 5 minutes and essential tools. You need to knock out the pin that holds the friction lock to the stock. Then you will see a U shaped piece of metal held in by another pin. All you need to do is take out the U shaped piece, give it a small squeeze with pliers and reassemble. Obviously, take your time and only squeeze a little at a time. But this will make the stock a better fit to your buffer tube. By the way, mine was a commercial buffer on an LR 308.

Sturdy, and the locking lever is a great selling point. It's not hard to install, unless you use pliers like people are talking about. Don't do that. Use a standard screwdriver and wedge it between the end of the lever and the T-head of the locking pin, then simply squeeze the lever like you would in normal operation. Slides right on. The screwdriver head acts as a spacer and adds to the effective travel of the lever, thus overextending the travel of the locking pin, which is necessary to start the stock on the buffer tube. Once the pin falls into the rail, remove the screwdriver, and normal operation is identical to the original, with the added bonus of having a locking lever that makes the stock fit snug as if it were a fixed one. Very nice design. No gunsmithing needed.

I had an AR15 with a six-position stock that had a lot of wobble in it. I read a review for this Magpul stock and decided to order it. Great purchase. Tight fit, no wobble. Very happy with the purchase.

Bought this stock as an upgrade to the S&W MP15 factory stock—quick install. After adjusting for the desired length, there's a clamp lever that secures it to the buffer tube and prevents the loose feel of the standard stock. It also has built-in Magpul QD holes in the stock; just snap in your QD swivel connectors. Very happy with this purchase.

I could not deal with the wobble built into the factory stock on my m4a1. This replacement is a perfect mil-spec replacement that fits nice and snug. Just follow the easy directions and you will not be disappointed.

Best carbine stock, period. When you clamp it up, it doesn't wiggle, wobble, shake, make noise, etc... It fits my DPMS extension like a glove. The buttpad is removable, but if you do, when you collapse it all the way, the slant of the extension sticks out a little. This doesn't concern me, though, because you can't shoot it with the stock all the way in very comfortably. The clamp is disengaged when you pull on the adjustment lock, and you can use it without the clamp engaged. Only detractors are maybe a little pricy, and you cannot export the stock, but in what other countries are they going to let you in with your "assault rifle"? Very well made as usual from MagPul.

This is a rugged and durable AR stock. It installs quickly and looks good. Although expensive, you certainly get a lot of value for the money. The stock adjusts easily and locks into position. It doesn't rattle or fail to stay extended like many of the cheaper collapsible stocks do. I would recommend this and buy another if I assemble another AR rifle. Very high quality.

Honestly, this is the best stock ever! I have an S&W m&p 15 sport 5.56, and this thing fits like a glove! The friction lock leaves the stock with absolutely no wobble! It's much more comfortable than the factory stock too. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking to buy one! You won't be disappointed!
