Fantastic super low profile bi-pod stud
Simple design, minimalist approach to mounting a bipod to a Key-mod rail. Allows you to attach your bipod flush with your rail.
Best bi-pod mount out there.
I’ve tried a bunch of them out there; this by far the best. You will have to remove the hand guard to install, but it’s a snap once you do.
Brilliant Solution - keymod sling mount
There are very few ways to install a sling swivel stud on an AR without using a ton of handguard real estate or interfering with the shooter’s grip. This is the most minor method I have found to mount a bipod.
This keymod sling stud isa a small part with big benefit!
Installation was tricky due to text-only instructions and the fact that you have to remove the hand-guard/fore-end and slip the mount through the inside of it. Video instructions would be beneficial. The text instructions were spot on but did not explain what to do with the additional clip, which I was able to deduce its purpose, which is added retention. My XXL hands had a difficult time with the smaller clips, which comes with an additional in case you lose one. Once I determined which Keymod slot to mount the adapter, I was four slots in, so I was just barely able to push the adapter in and hold it while installing the clip. My gas block was too close to the third slot, which would have been ideal for my 15" hand-guard. The O-ring included is great and provides some shock resistance preventing uneven marring on the inside of the hand-guard. Once installed, it fits snug and the second expansion clip provided a solid mount. My bi-pod clamped on well, and it yields a very solid union. Very happy, and it did not require an expensive and heavy Picatinny rail that would wobble anyway. My only complaint, aside from a patience warning for installation, is that the expansion clip could be made of a material with more elasticity like stainless spring material: it was easily bent and had to be re-formed around the adapter. Despite my critical observations, some of which could be fixed with video instruction, I have nothing bad to say about this adapter. I believe it's forward-thinking, simple and cost-effective, and much better than larger mount options that wobble costing and weighing much more. I'm extremely happy with this adapter! This will be my only Keymod, but I highly recommend this adapter and will be keeping an eye on Impact Weapons products in the future.
perfect but
Its a great idea and product quality but on my 16in AR with a 13.5 in keymod, the bipod folds and hits the barrel/break. if I use a pic rail, then put the bipod on it, leave just enough room where the folded bipod legs don't rest on the barrel/brake. I really wanted this to work, as it keeps the tackiness look of having too much crap on your gun. This will be used but as a sling mount instead.
Excellent KeyMod Bipod Adaptor
Excellent design. This is precisely what I needed. I built a super heavy AR with a long, heavy barrel, a great big scope, and a big old' Magpul UBR stock. Typically, I wanted a bipod. However, I needed it to be low-profile when folded so it wouldn't snag while walking through the woods. This nifty IWC KeyMod Bipod Mount combined with a Harris BRM accomplished exactly that. Protrusion from the rail is at an absolute minimum. I also needed it to be tough - I am not gentle with my weapons. Materials are top-notch and stand up to the beating I put it through. Installation was a breeze. Yeah, you have to know how to remove your handguard, and you need some skill finessing split rings on. I did it without marring the finish or flinging any parts across the room or into a bin. Honestly, if I can do it, anybody can do it. Casual shooters at the range won't notice this mount. Professional trigger pullers will. I've sent more than a few police and military folks to this site. Gear Up!!
Easy To Install But Not Heavy Duty Attachment
It's easy, and It's simple and easy to install but Not as easy to remove as install. Lightweight and the retention/attachment is a simple mini c-clip which by its design isn't heavy duty. I assume that without a bipod attached one good drop on the ground or snaging it on a barricade and the c-clip would go flying or break. I would not say it's combat durable due to the c-clip attachment but would work fine for all other uses.
I'm a lucky man!
Finding the IWC KeyMod Bipod Mount-N-Slot has changed the way I look at KeyMod rails and accessories. Everything I've tried for bipod mounting has either been completely wrong for the application, or just too big and bulky for stability. This product from IWC is barely noticeable, and provides a lower and more stable mounting solution for bipod use!
