Super easy to install handgaurd

I recently switched from a standard AR-15 handguard to a quad-rail handguard in order to mount a Streamlight on my BCM carbine. While the light was in a good position, I quickly came to dislike the quad-rail handguard. The edges were sharp, the extra rails were unnecessary, and the rail covers were so bulky that the handguard felt like holding a 2-liter bottle. I considered options from Troy, BCM, and other brands, but wasn't excited about the price. I'm not a brand-conscious buyer, nor am I a "Tactical Ted" type who wants to show off a shiny new toy at the range and gets upset if it gets a scratch. I'm just a guy with 26+ years in law enforcement and 11+ years on SWAT/SRT, and I have tools that are used, not abused. I don't want to spend a lot on unnecessary features. I saw this VISM handguard for $40 and decided to give it a try. It wouldn't require me to change the front sight or gas block to have a free-floating handguard, and if it didn't work out I wouldn't be out much money. Installing the handguard was easy, especially if you have a delta-ring tool. Without the tool, it might take two people, one to hold the gun and the other to pull down on the ring to remove the old handguard and install the new one. Either way, it should only take about two minutes. The allen screws went in easily (I used a drop of blue Loctite) and the rail sections were easy to remove and attach (again, with blue Loctite). I used the small section under the handguard for the light and left the large one off. Now the handguard is much easier to grip and hold for extended periods, and the sharp and bulky edges of the quad rail are gone. The light is still secured in the same 6 o'clock position. Best of all, if I scratch or ding it up, I won't worry too much about it.

Conflicting answers on this, but I found an Instagram post from VISM stating this rail is designed for the triangular cap. So I took a shot and went with it and so glad I did. It was an upgrade to a PSA midlength upper that came with the triangular cap. As others mentioned, I also found black sharpie marks on some portions of the rail, as to hide imperfections. Not sure why, as there were other blemishes and nicks on the front end. It didn't matter to me, as I view my ARs as fighting rifles, which get dinged way worse. The rail pieces are non-standard m-lok but do fit in the M-lok slots. Otherwise, a great cost-effective upgrade.
