Bought this for my Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. Regardless of the spring, it was a nightmare to get this DPM recoil reduction system in place of the stock recoil guide rod assembly. Once installed, the spring tension is so get that the gun cannot rack in a round from the mag. Unfortunately, the original packaging was detroyed or I would return this. Seems like this should be an easy swap out between the new DPM System and the original OEM recoil guide rod assembly. It is not.

I have a M&P Shield 1.0 and pulling back the slide was very hard. Putting on this new recoil spring reduction system greatly reduces recoil but also makes pulling back the slide when necessary very manageable.

I recently installed the DPM recoil reduction kit for my M&P Shield 9mm. Was very easy to install. Just remove stock Recoil Spring assembly and install new DPM assembly. I went with the smaller spring that came already on the unit. Just came back from the range. All in all I did not notice a difference. Wish I’d brought along the stock set up so I could have shot them one a a time. The thing I did notice was that in 200 rounds I had 4 failure to feed issues. These were all because the spent casing was not ejected and the new shell jammed in the chamber sideways. I’ll have to do some more shooting to see if this continues. Could be something else. We’ll see.

If you are looking for an S&W Shield recoil reduction, this is what you are looking for. While you do have to use a little trial and error if it comes with two m&p shield recoil springs after you break it in, it is fantastic. I loved it so much that I have ordered another for my new Beretta 92fs Inox.

Short spring has mega recoil. Long spring would not allow slide to be captured in the open position! WTF? Returning to factory setup! No way I would trust this on an EDC pistol. Disappointed!
