Customer Ratings & Reviews
Great optic red dot sight, great value
I'm in my mid 60's, and my eyes are having trouble with iron sights; and through recommendations and research, I purchased the Vortex Venom 3 MOA and mounted it on my Canik TP9SFx for about a month ago. I finally have 900 rounds through it feel comfortable in rendering an opinion. The installation was as smooth as one could hope for. When mounting, the Canik manual states to use the mounting screws that are included with the pistol to mount the plates. Suggest you use 'blue' Loctite when installing the mounting plates to mitigate the plates losing up. Yeah, I'm one of 'those guys that reads the manuals. The battery cap does have fine threads, and I can see where some people could cross-thread them. I don't rush anything when it comes to firearms, so no problem there. Range time: The optic was easy to sight in and only took a few shots. It has held zero perfectly without any issues with function. The field of view was more than adequate and clear. My groups tightened up substantially over the use of iron sights. Some reviewers have complained of the dot being blurry or a starburst. I've found that this is typical when the dot intensity is too high for the light you are shooting in. I select the manual mode and use a lower intensity. It gets put back on the automatic setting when I put it away, as the auto-off feature only engages in this setting. Overall: The Vortex Venom is a quality red dot and Great value. I anticipate purchasing another in the near future and have been recommending it to others. Their warranty (tested-see below) is real, and the people I dealt with were very helpful and polite. On Vortex: I recently had the occasion to test their warranty when I managed to lose the battery cap spring from my SPARC Red Dot. My klutz moves, but they promptly sent a replacement battery cap (not just the spring) at no expense to me. A nice surprise when a warranty actually means something.

So I bought the Springfield XDM 9 that comes with this cool little red dot; long story short, Springfield failed to mention that they don't put any kind of thread lock on the screws holding it on. Granted, I should have known better and checked; I was just so excited to use it. Anyway, so about 130 rounds in the screws had finally backed out and the thing came back and slammed me right in the forehead before going about 40 feet in the other direction. Yeah, it legit hit me that hard. I was bleeding pretty bad, and of course, like a real shooter didn't even notice ;D brought the sights back up and realized I was missing my red dot and decided to keep shooting. After I dumped the mag I saw it past the firing line, so I got the ro to go get it...NOT EVEN A SCRATCH!!!!! I couldn't believe it. Glass is perfect, the body is perfect, still works great. If it can survive hitting my thick skull followed by slamming into the ground and going that far, yeah, this little thing is tough!
Great value in this style optic
I mounted this using an egw red dot mount on a Ruger SR1911 Commander in 9mm. Fits perfectly, the dot is bright, not too big for precise shots, but easy to pick-up and follow in rapid firing (plate racks, etc.} Auto-off feature is nice. Small, compact, and lightweight, I would recommend this sight without hesitation.
Vortex Venom on AR15
I joined the ranks of AR owners in 2014. Between 2014 and 2018, I spent nearly $500 on various Red Dot and Holo sights of dubious quality and manufacturer's economic sights (yes, you can read that as "cheap," I freely admit it). None of these various sights were adequate or effective. All of them had various flaws that proved the old adage of "You get what you pay for," as every single one was poor for numerous reasons, and all showed poor quality workmanship, design, and substandard components. After many discussions and a lot of research and numerous product recommendations from owners, I decided upon the Vortex Venom 3MOA Red Dot. The Venom arrived within a few days with days. Once I opened it and mounted to my AR, the differences between the Vortex Venom and the cheaper optics I'd purchased. Small, compact, and a superior design to the cheapos, I was amazed at the superior coated lens and the first site I'd tried with a Dot that really was a Dot, not a fuzzy and imperfect dots that were anything but a dot. Using a laser bore sight, I was quickly able to adjust the windage and elevation to superimpose on the boresight at a hundred yards. With the Vortex Venom, my groups at a hundred yards tightened up very quickly and were very consistent. The Venom was a winner hand down. My only complaint, and this was my fault, was the height of the sight. It was too low to use comfortably for more than a few shots at a time. A couple of weeks later, I ordered the Vortex Quick Connect Riser specifically made for the Vortex Venom. That did the trick as it raised the sight just enough for a contortionist free height. I highly recommend the Vortex Venom. Great sight at a great price.
Vortex Venom Reflex Sight
It's mounted on my Glock 40 MOS 10mm. The accuracy I'm getting is better than I'm usually capable of. The only Mod.to the Pistol is an LW Alpha Wolf Barrel. At 25yds. With Factory Ammo or my Reloads, it makes one ragged hole; These are not Target loads, They are Full power 10mm.
Best Red Dot Sight is the vortex venom
Mounted the Vortex Venom on a Glock G40 MOS 10mm Auto (contact Vortex for the correct sized mounting screws @ no cost). The Vortex Venom holds zero under full power 10mm loads. The optics are excellent with no distortion or noticeable loss of light transmission, so much so that you don't even realize you are looking through optics. The red dot is clear and bright, with the auto-brightness feature a perfect balance with ambient light. The top-loading battery compartment is a 'must-have' ... I can't imagine having to remove the entire sight just to replace a battery, then have to reinstall the sight and re-zero it, and eventually, wear or strip the mounting threads/screw heads. I use the auto-brightness feature exclusively, and the original battery is still functioning brightly after much longer than the 140 hours advertised.

Best Red Dot Sight is the vortex venom
I was nervous at first, thinking I should have bought the Trijicon, but when the Vortex Venom arrived, and I installed it on my G34 MOS, it was pure love. The sight is amazing and easy to use. I love the fact that it has a top-loading battery and is waterproof. The sight is solid and well constructed. Honestly, it is an amazing Red Dot for the price, and I can not believe it doesn't cost more. So glad I purchased it. Holds Zero and no problem after 500 rds. Love it, and will def be buying more from Vortex. You have to love the VIP no B/S Warranty too!
Vortex Venom Red Dot Sight
I picked up this Vortex Venom Red Dot Sight for my new S&W Victory 22, I have a couple of other red dots on pistols and they make a tremendous difference for those of us with aging eyes. I have found this to be an excellent red dot sight, I'm very impressed with it, I have several Vortex rifle scopes and have found them to be of above-average quality, clear and sharp just like this red dot. As a comparison, I have a Burris FastFire III on a S&W M&P 9mm CORE model, and comparing the two I find the Vortex to be brighter on the automatic setting and prefer it over the Burris. I also like the cover that Vortex includes with the sight, it keeps it cleaner when you aren't using it. I highly recommend this red dot.
Best red dot sight ever!
The Venom Red dot is a top quality product, Zeroed easily and quickly. Ten shot group the size of a quarter.
Excellent red dot sight
The Vortex Venom is an excellent red dot sight and 100 dollars less the Leopold DeltaPoint. It fits right on mos Glock model 40 with plate#5 and has sight markings on the back which eliminate the need to buy suppressor sights to co-witness. Use the two extra Glock screws to mount, according to the Glock armorer who mounted mine. A BARGAIN.
Very satisfied with the Venom red dot sight
I mounted the Vortex Venom on my Glock 40 and have been very satisfied with it. I have shot a few hundred rounds of full power 10mm loads, and it has held up well. At this price point, there are not many quality red dots that can be added to pistols. However the Venom certainly is one of them, and with the unconditional lifetime warranty, the Venom is the winner. The auto-brightness works fine, and the dot is very bright and clear. My only criticism is that I wish it would go two settings darker for very low light conditions.
