Holosun P.ID Pistol Weapon Light (High Candela)

The P.ID is built for positive identification in low light with a beam that has real intensity, not just big lumen numbers. It’s compact, durable, and designed to fit MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rails using included adapter inserts.

Quick specs (the stuff shoppers care about)

    • High: 1000 lumens / 23,000 candela

    • Low: 500 lumens / 11,000 candela

    • Power: flat top 18350 Li-ion (included), rechargeable without removal via magnetic charging cable

    • Fit: MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, adapter inserts included

    • Build: 7075-T6 aluminum, anodized

    • Rating: IP68, 1000G vibration

    • Size/weight: 3.2 x 1.2 x 1.4 in, 5 oz

High candela output that’s actually useful

High mode gives you a defined hotspot for searching and identification, while low mode is still punchy and easier to live with for close work. The P.ID is designed around this two-mode practicality, not novelty features.

    Rechargeable power that stays simple

The included 18350 battery charges with the included magnetic charging cable, so you can top off without pulling the battery out. If you’re already used to topping off optics or handhelds, this fits the same rhythm.

Note: Holosun specifies the light should be charged with the included magnetic charging cable.

    Fitment that reduces guesswork

Instead of forcing one rail key to work for everything, the P.ID ships with rail interface adapter inserts so you can get a more secure, better-positioned fit across common 1913-style pistol rails.

Built from 7075-T6 and sealed to IP68

The housing is milled from 7075 aluminum and anodized, and the light carries an IP68 submersion rating plus a 1000G vibration spec. It’s meant to be “install it and trust it.”

    Holosun P.ID CREE LED Light

It's a great deal; amazing light for under $90. With discounts and optics rewards, I paid $74 shipped. Bright, rechargeable, and with a replaceable battery. The only downside is the holster, really. It's almost the size of a TLR-1, and I assume it should fit most holsters with those specs, but the companies that make 100% exact molds for the light want $75-170 for the holster. At the time of this review, even the companies that make dedicated holsters don't have all models and all frames. This light is super white with a blueish tint, like car HID's. It can be used while charging. The charger is magnetic, but only fits one way, and it's not an ultra-strong magnet. For instance, you can't lift the light up by the cord; it will pull out. Therefore, if you are driving or are somewhere where the light and charger are connected, moving around too much might cause the connection to come out. This is not a problem, as if you need it ready to act on the gun, the charging cable easily breaks loose and doesn't hang up. The light can be charged and/or have its battery changed while on the gun. It has an O-ring in the front cap and includes multiple bottom plates to attach to various lights. I doubt this will attach to most subcompact or micros. I have a Sig P365XL, and the body is too long; it hits the trigger guard. The springs for the pic rail are kind of just in there. They're not really locked to a groove; this won't affect tightening it down but more in removing it. Springs aren't even needed, in my opinion. The light can be removed with the provided tool or a flat head screwdriver. For example, car keys, knife, button, rim of a 9 mm fits, rim of .223/556/300 blk fits, and 458 socom was too big. I am sure that 30-caliber cartridges might be too big. Torx or hex/allen wrench—I do not know the sizes. The light does have some weight to it. Switches are not very clicky tactile, but have a "bump" like a laptop keyboard. Silicon feel, no sound when activating. You have to press in; it won't just light up or go off by light taps or bumps against your body or holster. It takes maybe 1-2 pounds of pressure. ambi switches left and right do the same thing however pressing and holding both active high or low power if you hold both down continuously it will kinda strobe ( not fast ) switching between high and low mode. Once a mode is selected, when activated, it stays in that mode: monetary or constant on—it does not change modes unless you manually switch it. I choose to run high the output is better to light up surrounding areas.

I hesitated a bit but finally picked up the P.ID because it's new, and with the WML having limited compatibility with custom Kydex holsters. High lumen, good candela, aesthetics, rechargeable battery, and good IPX water resistance rating attracted me. I am very glad that I did. This thing rocks and looks badass on my MR920 and VP9. I also found it fits and "clicks in" with retention in a few Kydex holsters made for the TLR-1. I tried Vedder and Kobra Kydex, and both worked. I haven't tried other brands, so your mileage may vary. I've had it out to the range twice already, and it's still functioning fine. Time will tell if the build and reliability holds up. The only thing I don't like is that there's no strobe function. But otherwise so far, an all-around winner!
