With the delayed blowback action of the HK, any metal to metal contact generates damage that does not "heal." Even though the buffer has a finite life, it can be examined whenever the weapon is cleaned and replaced without misery. The durability of the system is improved, which is one of the best purposes of the HK design.

Installs over the current metal buffer. An older post mentioned his stock was held together by two small screws. Wake up! Install this over the metal buffer, which will hold the stock together. The two small screws will hold this buffer in place. Works as designed. It might not be as good as an expensive hydraulic buffer but it dampens the impact of the bolt. Last, if your bolt is slamming into the buffer hard, you need to read about changing the "locking piece" of the bolt assembly. The locking piece matches the ammo and keeps the bolt assembly from slamming back hard.
