For uncountable years I have used this wax on every part of my firearms excluding the action and bore. It preserves and shines like nothing else...... I take that back, Renaissance wax is just as good. One is liquid the other semi-solid. Take your pick.

Excellent wax. Follow directions and apply coats evenly, then wait for the proper drying time. Had ZERO PROBLEM with getting a high sheen with multiple layers and proper cotton cloths. Never use rayon or polyester blended rags to try and get a very high finish.

I prefer a dull oiled wood finish gun stocks. Most of the ideas I have heard for keeping your gun stock in good condition are based upon the concept that when you are done, it should shine like a mirror or at least have a healthy sheen. I don't like the type of finish. Birchwood Casey Gun Stock Wax is a good alternative. I have a beloved old rifle with a beautiful walnut stock with an oiled finish. I used to have to re-oil the stock ht after bad weather afield to keep it from being washed out. I put one heavy coat of this Wax on the stock, and my dilemmas were over. I did not follow the instructions at first to apply and then rub the Wax because, again, I did not want any sheen or luster at all. It would probably give you a more shiny finish if you followed the directions. Instead, I just rubbed it all over the wood with my index finger and let it dry overnight. I hunted with it the next day. It took about two days for the original wood grain to appear healthy and beautiful again. I did not need to reapply anything to the stock again for the rest of the Pennsylvania deer season which was dismal and wet for at least another week. I did not see any need to apply more Wax after the season was over. The stock is not shiny, but it is beautiful. And there is enough of the Wax left over to do a bunch of guns. It goes pretty far. The whole application process took less than 5 minutes, and the only tool required was my index finger. Great stuff. I have been searching for something like this for a long time. I a happy camper.
