Q: Is the “Gun Scrubber Firearm Cleaner” the same as the “Gun Scrubber Synthetic Safe” formula?
A: Yes, the product labeling did not specify “Synthetic Safe” but it is the same formula. Cans with UPC code of 0 29057 33340 4 and 0 29057 33344 2 have and will always be “synthetic safe.”
Q: Will Gun Scrubber damage plastic?
A: Gun Scrubber may harm some plastics, painted surfaces, synthetic stocks, camouflage finishes and wood finishes. Do not allow product to pool on, in or under firearm, or components to reduce the possibility of damage. Test an area before using.
Q: Why does the label on my Gun Scrubber look different than on the website?
A: There are currently 3 labels of Gun Scrubber.
Q: Why does the product not spray when I can feel that the can is not empty?
A: If the Gun Scrubber® can is not held straight up and down when in use there can be a disproportionate amount of propellant used. This can result in all the propellant being used up despite some product remaining in the can.

My Birchwood casey gun scrubber review
I have used Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber since the 1980's and found that it is wonderful for washing out hard to reach crevices such as those found in semi-automatic actions. It melts through residues and washes away small fragments. If you have places in your firearm that are hard to reach with a brush or you simply want to speed your semi-auto action cleaning time, this is the product that you need. Just apply a light coat of Break Free after you're done and you're good to go.
This cleaner is great!
I use this cleaner to spray away minor oil seepage on my truck's engine. This is the perfect lazy man's way to clean firearms!!! No downside to this cleaner only positive!
The Best gun scrubber
The best synthetic Gun scrubber cleaner I have found, it may require a second cleaning step but it will not hurt the finish.
I Panic When I Run Low
This makes cleaning a gun nothing but easy. I'm never without it, but you go through cans quickly. Buy more than you think you'll need.
This is a great product
Gun scrubber synthetic is a great product. I have used it for years on my competition pistols and rifles. Good for getting into those tight places where a brush can't go, like trigger groups, etc.
An Indispensable Commodity
Initially, Birchwood Casey only offered this aerosol solvent for all-metal firearms. When I could not find it, I settled for an automotive carburetor cleaner. I would have to simply scrub my polymers with No. 9 and a toothbrush. A few years ago, the synthetic safe version came out, and it must have been so successful that I never see the original anywhere. While not used all the time, heavy usage of a firearm leaves foreign deposits everywhere in the piece, and while the old-fashioned way of cleaning still works, Birchwood Casey Gun Scrub cuts my cleaning time in half. I rarely use it alone, but I use it first on slides and receivers, especially if I know it will be a couple of days before I can get to it for proper cleaning. Coupled with Birchwood Casey Barricade, I could (almost) dispense with every other solvent in my inventory...and I've tried almost every other brand. It costs more than I would prefer, but then again, so do my toys. Word of advice: if you do find the non-synthetic safe version, strip the piece of all plastic and polymer attachments completely. I once used the non-synthetic safe version on a Walther PPK, and 10 minutes later, I was on the phone with Walther ordering new grips. I only have one minor negative observation: the little red straw that fits into the sprayer sometimes has a loose fit and pops out during full pressure dispensing. I think the maker of the straws has difficulty making the OD of the straw uniform. I now keep all previously used straws as backups in my cleaning kit for retrofitting to new cans of Gun Scrubber, if needed.
Love this gun scrubber spray!
Love this gun scrubber spray! Works great removing old oil and grease from those hard to get to spots and haven't found any type of adverse effects on any plastics or polymers!
