AK Muzzle Brake – Upgrade Your AK's Performance

Looking to tame the recoil on your AK and tighten up your follow-up shots? A good AK muzzle brake isn’t just an upgrade — it’s almost essential if you want more control, less muzzle rise, and a better shooting experience overall.

At Mounts Plus, we stock only proven AK muzzle brakes that do what they say — cut recoil, reduce muzzle climb, and help keep your shots on target. Whether you're running a WASR-10, a ZPAP, or an Arsenal, you'll find a compatible, high-performance option right here.

Why Upgrade Your AK with a Muzzle Brake?

The standard AK-47 recoil impulse is no joke. That classic 7.62x39 round packs a punch, and when you’re running fast drills or double taps, muzzle rise becomes a real issue. A quality muzzle brake helps mitigate that by redirecting gas sideways or upwards, instead of letting it drive your barrel straight up. The result? Faster, flatter shooting. And less punishment to your shoulder.

Our AK Muzzle Brake Highlights

  • Optimized for 7.62x39mm AKs – Ideal for AK-47 and most AKM-pattern rifles

  • Standard 14x1 LH threads – Compatible with most factory AK barrels

  • Aggressive porting design – Reduces both recoil and muzzle rise

  • Rugged construction – Built from steel and ready for rough use

  • Easy to install – No gunsmith needed if your barrel is already threaded

Fits These Models (and More):

  • WASR-10

  • Zastava ZPAP M70

  • Arsenal SAM7

  • PSAK-47

  • Century Arms VSKA

  • Other AK-47 or AKM rifles with standard 14x1 LH threading

Not sure if it fits? Hit us up — we’ll help you get it right the first time.

What Makes a Good AK Muzzle Brake?

It's all about gas redirection. Look for wide side ports or slotted chambers — those help bleed off gas and keep your barrel from rising or drifting. Some models also feature top ports to counter muzzle rise more aggressively. The trade-off is usually increased side blast, but for a faster-shooting AK, that’s a fair deal. Most of our customers notice the difference after just a few rounds.

Looking to upgrade more than just your muzzle? Check out our full selection of AK accessories to dial in your rifle exactly how you want it. If control and handling are a priority, pair this brake with an AK vertical grip to stay locked in during rapid fire. Want faster target acquisition between shots? Mount a red dot with one of our AK red dot mounts for a tighter, more responsive setup. And if you’re building out other rifles, don’t miss our AR-15 muzzle brakes or our full lineup of flash hiders to complete your kit.

FAQ

Will this muzzle brake fit my WASR-10?
Yes — as long as your barrel is threaded 14x1 LH, this will fit directly without an adapter.

Is there a big difference between a compensator and a muzzle brake?
Yes. A muzzle brake reduces recoil. A compensator is more about controlling muzzle rise. Many AK brakes do both — we focus on ones that strike a good balance.

How do I install this muzzle brake?
If your barrel is already threaded (which most AKs are), just unscrew the old one and screw this on. Use a crush washer or retention pin as needed.

Will this work with a suppressor?
No — these brakes aren’t quick-detach or suppressor mounts. They’re strictly standalone recoil-reduction devices.

Is this brake legal in all states?
Some states have restrictions on muzzle devices, especially if they act like flash hiders. Check your local laws or ask us — we’ll help you stay compliant.
