Magpul MOE AK Handguard - AK47/AK74
The Magpul MOE AK Handguard is a replacement for standard AK pattern rifles without a front sling loop on the Handguard retainer. Featuring an extended gripping portion, integrated heat shield, M-LOK mounting capability, and replacement gas tube cover, the MOE AK Handguard is an upgrade to any AK pattern rifle.
Made in U.S.A. Magpul AK Handguard counts as one US compliance part for 922(r).

The Magpul MOE AK-47 Handguards are specifically designed in order to simply drop in as replacements for regulr stock parts and accessories without any real form of modification to the firearm itself. The top gas tube of the Magpul MOE AK-47 handguard simply turns and slots directly into place and provides a solid and secure feel. Unfortunately at this time, Magpul currently do not offer a top picatinny rail version in order to utilise a red dot sight, but the MOE AK-47 Handguard does feature an internal heat shield which can also serve as tightly sprung tensioned handguard retainer which can significantly increase the overall rigidity of the handguard itself.
For many individuals and firearm enthusiasts, the MOE AK-47 Handguard from Magpul will no doubt be one of the most popular of the AK handguards, this is simply because it requires no form of professional fitting or expensive tools in order for it to seat correctly upon your firearm. It may need just a few taps from a small rubber hammer in order to seat in place at the very most, which isn’t a big problem at all. The Magpul AK-47 Handguard can also be effortlessly modified in order to fit other fitment needs too! All of the Magpul MOE AK-47 Handguards are designed and fashioned fully as M-LOK® accessory compatible at the respectable positions of 3', 6', and 9' o'clock.Much like all of Magpul’s premium-quality products they are exceptionally well designed and thought out. Instructions are vague and could be better, but the Magpul ak handguard is excellent. I had some trouble installing the upper portion on my SAR-1 due to poor instructions but finally got it done with only a small amount of bloodshed.

I would say that, like any other aftermarket AK part there might need to be minor fitting. Does that make it a bad thing? No. I bought this one, cause the SAR-1 I have I just went on the assumption that it had 15 foreign parts on it and changed out the trigger group (Tapco G2 trigger group), the Tapco buttstock, and this would be my 5th compliance part to make it possible to have foreign parts on the rest of the rifle. Honestly, I was looking for an moe AK handguard that allowed me to use my iron sights, and it didn't have to have rail systems attached to it. I will say that if you fit everything on yours and can't get the gas tube lever closed, you might be experiencing the same problem I was. To get it to fit, I filed down the plastic top cover of the gas tube where it sandwiches down to the lower forend. I also shouldn't have to say it, but if you don't need rapid-fire, it will hold up to regular use. Then again, if you have original wood furniture, the forend will catch on fire if you are rapid-fire the rifle long enough.

In the end, the Magpul AK handguard all looks and works great! It also helps with 922r compliance. But a warning to those with a MAK-90.... be sure to have your Dremel cutoff disks and files ready... you're going to need them. I was surprised at how much material I had to remove to get it to fit. It may be more comfortable to install on thinner stamped receivers. In the end, I do like the way it feels and fits my hand!

I replaced the handguard on my AMD-65 with one of moe AK handguards. Some fitting was required in the area of the front handguard retainer. I also had to cut off the front sling loop. No biggie. Ran 3 30 round mags rapidly through the AMD. Still cool to hold on to. AMAZING! (AK owners, you know what I mean). Also, put a complete set (stock, pistol grip, handguard) on a Chinese MAK-91. Again, some fitting required. But I got it on, and all are rock solid. This is, by far, the very best furniture out there for the AK rifles. Unquestionably. CONs? Like some other MAGPUL stocks, the QD sling mounts SHOULD be molded directly in. Not an add-on. This gets expensive. Otherwise, fantastic job MAGPUL!

This has been long-awaited. I have a Norinco MAK90 that needs updating. The MAK90 has a thicker Milled Receiver, and the MOE handguard where it locks into the receiver was too thick. I had to use my Dremel tool and trim about half of the material, and in about 5 minutes was up and running. It fits very solid and snug with zero movements, and I love it. It thoroughly updates the rifle, and the extended handguard with the hand stop will ensure no more burnt fingers during speed drills.

The Magpul AK handguard Looks great and really shields from the heat even after mag dumps. The original wood handguards that came on my MAK90 would get hot very quickly. The only issue was fitting it on the Chinese MAK90 because the receiver is thicker. So it took some shaving of the lower handguard to make it fit.

I bought this Magpul moe ak handguard for my Century Arms RAS47. The installation is basic, but the lower handguard is very tight. But that is a good thing because it is a super snug fit and there is no play in it. You have to use a mallet to tap it into place for a proper fit. Look on youtube on how to install. You will need that for tips and tricks to make installation easy. I would definitely order this product again.
