    massive red dot window

    4 out of 5
    Location:
    Date: October 26, 2023

The Delta Point Pro standout feature is the massive window, providing an expansive field of view. This makes it much easier to spot the dot compared to other red dots like the Holosun 507. However, adjusting the brightness is a bit tricky since it uses a single button that cycles through the settings. The top-loading battery compartment is a plus, as you don't need to remove the optic to change the battery. But, the battery life isn't as long-lasting as some competitors. Other features include an aluminum body, steel housing, one MOA windage and elevation adjustments, a dovetail slot for a rear sight, waterproofing, and a weight of less than two ounces. It's made in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty. The main pros are the large field of view, top-load battery compartment, and the option to add a rear sight. The main con is the brightness adjustment.

This dot is popularly seen on many pistols, and its reliability is top-notch, perhaps only second to the Trigati's in the mini red dot market. One of its standout features is its large, clear window, which offers a bright and well-defined dot. The housing is sturdy but tall, which affects the height of backup iron sights. The adjustments are precise, and it comes with a strong warranty. Plus, it has a shake-wake technology, making it ideal for everyday carry. However, the battery performance varies. I own three, and their battery lives differ significantly. The glass is stunning, offering a clear view without any significant tint, unlike other red dots that tint their glass to extend battery life. The large window is especially beneficial for competition shooters, ensuring the dot remains visible even during rapid movements. The dot comes in two sizes, 2.5 MOA and 7.5 delta point MOA, and I personally prefer the 2.5 MOA. The controls are decent, but I wish it had separate up and down buttons for brightness adjustments. The elevation and windage adjustments are excellent, providing tactile and audible clicks. The housing is thick, which affects the height of backup irons. If you don't have backup irons on your pistol, Loophole offers a rear sight that fits into the optic's dovetail slot. In terms of durability, my Delta Point Pros have held up well, even with thousands of rounds fired. The battery cap design is ingenious, allowing for tool-less battery changes without unmounting the dot. Despite my appreciation for the battery operation, I wish it had separate buttons for brightness adjustments. In comparison to other optics, the Delta Point Pro offers a superior viewing experience. It's like the difference between looking through a vast window versus a narrow straw. The price is a bit steep, currently ranging between $350 to $400, but I believe it's worth the investment. In conclusion, I'd rate the Delta Point Pro an 4/5. It has its pros and cons, but overall, I've been satisfied with its performance.

fan of the Delta Point Pro

I was initially critical of the original Delta point, but this version seems to have better feedback. Like any red dot sight, it has its strengths and weaknesses. I've mounted it on my Gen 4 Glock 34, which is optics-ready. It's essential to note that the Delta Point Pro differs from the original Delta point, especially regarding mounting options. The body of the optic is made of aluminum with a steel hood, offering protection against potential damage. I've had issues with the original Delta point breaking, but this one's holding up well. A standout feature is the top battery compartment, allowing for easy battery changes without removing the optic. Adjustments for windage and elevation are also smooth, with each movement producing a tactile and audible click. The optic's height is slightly larger than some competitors, which affects co-witnessing with sights. It also has an auto-off feature and an auto sensor for brightness adjustments. I've tested it with a Surefire x300 weapon light, and it performed well in low-light situations. Comparing it to other optics like the RMR and the original Delta point, the Delta Point Pro offers a broader field of view, making it easier to pick up the dot. Mounting options are versatile, with kits available for various rear sights. My overall impression? This has been my favorite pistol-mounted red dot so far. The auto-adjusting feature, water resistance, and overall design are impressive. However, I'm uncertain about its battery life, and the price point is on the higher side. In conclusion, while it has its pros and cons, I'm genuinely a fan of the Delta Point Pro.

    solid red dot choice

    5 out of 5
    Location:
    Date: October 26, 2023

With the rising trend of miniaturized red dot optics, companies are constantly refining their products. The more these optics are used, the more data we gather, leading to better designs. However, there have been issues with durability, functionality, mounting options, battery life, and controls for these optics, especially when it comes to handguns. While red dot optics on handguns have been around since the late '70s, they've only become widely popular recently. I've used Loophole's products extensively throughout my career, and I'm familiar with the Delta Point platform. I once had their original Delta Point, which served me well until it eventually gave out. One major concern with the Delta Point Pro is its durability, especially if it takes a hit. I always evaluate new optics to stay informed and recently wrote a detailed paper on MRDs for law enforcement use, which is a valuable resource for anyone considering one for self-defense. The model I'm discussing is the DDP 2.5 MOA. It sits a bit higher than some other optics, and its window is larger, which some shooters appreciate. However, for me, the window size isn't a major factor. A common complaint is its height, which can affect co-witnessing with iron sights. For my tests, I used a Glock 17 MOS, and with standard suppressor height sights, co-witnessing was a challenge. But a cool feature of the Delta Point Pro is the ability to mount a rear sight directly to the optic body. Battery life is a debated topic. My original Delta Point required battery changes every six months, and I expect the same for the Delta Point Pro. Adjustments are manual, and it features motion sense technology, which turns the optic off when not in motion, conserving battery life. My review process involves firing 2,000 rounds. I start by zeroing the optic and then proceed with various tests, including rapid firing and durability tests. Unfortunately, my first Delta Point Pro didn't survive a shoulder-height drop test, shattering its glass. I got a second one, which also had its lens cracked during similar tests. This isn't to say Loophole's product is subpar; they're working within certain design constraints. In conclusion, the Delta Point Pro has many commendable features, but its durability and battery life could be improved. While it wouldn't be my first choice for an everyday carry optic, it's a close second. Its price point is also attractive, being more affordable than some competitors. Loophole is known for its excellent warranty service, which I'll soon be using for my two Delta Point Pros. It's a good optic, but when compared to the RMR, it doesn't quite match up in durability. If you're considering a red dot optic for your handgun, the Delta Point Pro is a solid choice.

I bought this for my Sig P320 M17, just the government spec'd. Good choice! It fits the cutout perfectly; the dot is crisp, it holds zero and offers fast target acquisition. No complaints, but the lens does get dirty after 30-40 rounds. That's not Leupold's fault, just a design oversight on the location of the slide cutout.

I would buy the Leopold Delta Point again, but...

I put the Leopold DeltaPoint Pro on a Gen 4 MOS Glock 35 about four months ago. The DeltaPoint fit on the Glock precisely as advertised; it was easily-mounted, it is a perfect fit, and it has remained a rock-solid sighting system. I first sighted the DeltaPoint in using 165-grain hand-loads, and an hour later using 185-grain gold dot hollow points. It sighted in quickly and has maintained its zero after well over 2,000 rounds. The battery is easy to install without removing the sight, and the DeltaPoint goes to sleep as advertised, waking up in an instant and ready to use. One reason I got it was because of the adjustable brightness control, and it does work well; however if I have the DeltaPoint set for the night, I have to remember to make the delta brighter before I step out into the daylight or else the 7.5 MOA red delta is almost impossible to see. I now leave it set on my "daytime" setting. If I have to use it in a dark house, the DeltaPoint is very bright but usable. It is no problem in the dark if you have it set to "daytime" bright but uses it with a bright flashlight mounted on the bottom of your pistol. Leaving the DeltaPoint set to be bright ensures that I don't find myself in bright daylight, unable to see the too-dim delta because I forget to reset it. I do find that the lens gets very dusty after a few day's carry, so I clean it off using a burst from an air duster that I have for my computer's keyboard. If I don't clean it off every few days, the delta starts to get blurry in the lint. I still like the Trijicon RMR Reflex Dual-Illuminated Red Dot Sight, it was a very close second choice, but I was worried about the dot's washout if I needed to aim out of a dark room into a lighted area. (A friend of mine has the RMR mounted on an FN .45 and loves it.) I installed the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Rear Iron Sight in combination with Ameriglo's Tall Suppressor 0.407 inch front sight. The BUIS shoots low but is usable in an emergency, and the tall front sight easily slides in and out of my Bladetech holster.

I've been running a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro for the last year, and when it started to have issues, I sent it in for repair. I waited patiently for the last few weeks for it to arrive in time to shoot the opening evening of SCAPSA this week. I opened the box and was utterly torn. Why do you ask? They upgraded me to the DeltaPoint Pro..Part of me was like, Right On! Woo Hoo!! Unfortunately, it ended quickly because there is NO mount available for my S&W Performance Center. So I'm out until I spend another $500 on a different red dot sight or maybe a new gun. I wish they would have at least told me they were going to do what they did so I could have made other arrangements. I mean, someone took the time to email me and tell me they received it. Why couldn't anyone have said," Hey dude, we discontinued the Delta Point, so were going to send some new magic." ((sigh))

The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro is a Fantastic red dot sight

I have had the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro on a Glack 19 mos for about three weeks now and have about 700 rounds using this combo, and so far, I love it. It does take a little getting used to if you have not shot with an optic mounted pistol before, but if you have used a red dot on a rifle, you will feel at home. I like the fact that you concentrate on the target and let the dot superimpose itself on the target. This makes for faster shooting and better target/threat awareness since you are not going from target to front sight and back again. I love the field of view of the DeltaPoint over the competition; it is night and day better. The other advantage is the battery is located on the top, so the optic does not have to be removed to change, though this will only have to be done maybe twice a century. I will be adding the Leupold back up sight that mounts to this optic and a taller front sight to have a backup co-witness set up. The only negative I would have to say is the price, and that is for all these little red dots. Hopefully, as this becomes more of a regular thing, the price will come down a little. But even with that said, I would not buy one of the cheaper ones since they will probably not last on a pistol. Thank you, Leupold, for making another great optic.

I had the opportunity to use this sight at a new handgun class. I was amazed at how quickly I could put the sight on target and even more so on how fast I could get the second shot on target. Very easy to use and very accurate. I used it on a Glock 19 (relatively short sight radius), and this red dot (7.5 MOA Delta) "stretched" that out a lot, making it easy to stay on target. I liked it so much; i purchased the same sight for my home defense gun.

It was difficult for me to get used to both eyes open when shooting with a sight. After a bit of practice, the steel plates on the dueling tree began to fly. After many years of Glock usage, to include qualifying twice a year and field use, my shooting accuracy has leaped forward with this Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Red Dot sight system!

The Delta Point has never lost zero after two years and 57k rounds of significant power in USPSA competition. No adjustment screws to strip out. No plastic to crack, click adjustments, better warranty, and a better company than the competition makes it.
