    Burris FastFire 3

The ability of some company to quickly react to markets or/and customers' demands maybe can be best seen in Burris case. After an only year and half of introducing FF2, they manage to launch a new upgraded Red-Dot dubbed FastFire III. Like earlier models, this new red dot optic is also at 1x magnification allowing both-eyes-open shooting. Moreover, without adding weight or bulkiness or changing the balance of your weapon choice, this sight adds so much functionality and versatility to a gun. As another improvement, the FastFire III uses a dot MOA of 4 (small) and 8 (large) and is listed as submersible.

The third generation of Burris Fastfire family has enhanced numerous features that incorporate upgraded windage and elevation adjustments; a top mounted battery (CR1632) for more natural battery replacement and a power button that provides three manual brightness settings. On the new version, windage and elevation adjustment could be made without tools in the field. Besides that, the new location of the battery compartment is correctly positioned, so the Miniature Red Dot does not need to be unmounted to replace the battery. Additionally, the unit has electronic controlled power supply meaning that after eight hours the system automatically shuts down plus a low battery indicator is provided. The power button has a dual function, to turn the optic on/off and via cycling the push button to set the brightness manually. The auto brightness setting is quickly responsive while the almost perfectly round red dot stays very crisp throughout all the intensity levels.

Compact, and lightweight, the FF3 reflex sight is intended for shooting at close to medium range and is especially superior for engaging a moving target. FF3 is a great sight for a handgun or plinking rifle, but all of its features make it equally desirable for hunting, competition, self-defense and even law enforcement. There are extensive selections of Burris mounts in aftermarket offered for either model that will fit on most popular shooting platforms.

Great red dot reflex, bargain price - low profile on a DPMS Panther AR-15

I spent half a day at the range, plinking at golf balls with this red dot reflex sight and am very pleased with its performance. While I plan to test it with a sandbag rest at longer ranges and provide a more comprehensive review, at present, the variations in shot placement seem to reflect the quality of the shooter, not the sight. The package includes the rail mount base plate with thumbscrew and hardened alignment pins, Torx mounting screws with captive external tooth lock washers, a Torx wrench, a jeweler's screwdriver, a battery, dust cover/sun shield, a soft fabric storage pouch for the sight, base, and cover, and very basic instructions. I recommend using reading glasses and taking one minute to read them before trying to install the battery cover. There are a few things I would do differently next time. Firstly, I wouldn't bother with a bore sight as the factory settings seem to be just fine. Secondly, I would purchase a flat top riser scope mount as the sight is very low profile, making it difficult to get a good cheek weld with muffs on. Thirdly, I would use a larger screwdriver to reinstall the battery cover to avoid damaging the slot. The soft rubbery black rectangular push button on the left side rotates through five settings: automatic brightness, high, medium, low, and off. The push button provides minimal tactile feedback, so watch the dot. I was able to find the dot even on the lowest setting on a bright sunny day. The automatic brightness setting seemed to provide an even wider range of brightness than the manual settings. The elevation and windage screws seem to have a wide range of adjustment and don't have audible or tactile clicks. I've owned a cheap red dot reflex sight before, but this Burris Fastfire III is a high-quality optic designed to withstand 1000 Gs, with a hardened aluminum body and mount. If you need something even tougher, you can purchase the optional Burris mount that surrounds and protects the entire Fastfire III.

I bought this sight to attach to my Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm Full Size handgun, but since I don't own the C.O.R.E model, I had to purchase a separate mounting mechanism. I opted for the Sight-Mount as a replacement for the rear sight, which comes with a short picatinny rail section and installs in the rear sight dove tail. It's a great option because it retains the rear iron sight, so I can still use my iron sights if I remove the red-dot. Other mounting mechanisms replace the rear sight, leaving you with no iron sights to fall back on. However, please note that Sight-Mount recommends drilling and tapping your slide for a third mounting screw for a solid mount, which requires the help of a gunsmith. The Burris FastFire III with the included Picatinny mount fits perfectly on the Sight-Mount rail, and everything is very secure and tight with this mechanism, which is essential given the gun's recoil and moving slide. I took it to the range and had no issues zeroing the sight at 10 meters, and the adjustments are simple to make at 1 MOA per click. The sight holds zero well and is very accurate between 5 and 25 yards. The sight has an 8 MOA dot, which is ideal for close distances and is a great size for handguns since you typically shoot at relatively close distances. The sight has a combination on/off and brightness square rubber push button switch on the left side. The sequence is ON - AUTO Bright - High Bright - Medium Bright - Low Bright - OFF. It also has an auto-off feature, and the light sensor at the front of the sight adjusts the dot intensity well. The battery access is from the top of the sight, and the cap is finely threaded aluminum, which requires some care to avoid cross-threading. The sight is made with an aluminum chassis and appears to be very durable. It's a great sight, especially for those with less-than-perfect eyesight, as it allows for accurate shooting with both eyes open and focused on the target. The only downside is that it doesn't come with a protective cover, but I use some plastic wrap to cover it while cleaning my gun. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality sight for their handgun.

I use the Burris FastFire Reflex Red Dot Sight on my .45-70 hog rifle. It is bright and quick to bring on target. This type of game requires an immediate reaction and this sight is the right tool for the job.

At 68 years old had trouble with the rear sight on Ruger Mk 3. The groups would be left or right of the center every string. Other shooters withmy pistol would not. Club member suggested fast fire. Back to shooting good groups at 50 and 25 yards. It has helped my scores in the any sight catagory.

Burris Fastfire III with no mount

The Burris Fastfire III is mounted on my Kimber Stainless Gold Match II using Burriss mounting plate # 410323. The mounting was a perfect fit. Took the gun to the range and ran 100 rounds of 230gr fmj and sight held it's zero at 50 yards. I was planning on buying a Leupold Deltapoint II, Leupold keeps pushing the release date further back, and I did not get any respond from Leupold on the release date so I went ahead and bought the Burris Fastfire III and I am very glad I did I saved over half the price. I will be buying a second Burris Fastfire III to mount on my Ruger Mark III Hunter.

The FastFire is probably the least obtrusive red dot on the market. It puts an easy to pick up a red dot right where you want it and expect to see it in the smallest unit on the market. I've used the FastFire 2 for years, and Burris must have been reading my mind when they designed the improvements into the FastFire 3! "Why couldn't they put a 'screw-off cap' on the top of the unit for battery replacement, so you don't have to disassemble the unit to replace the battery?" And, "How about a manually operated switch to positively turn the unit off?" Burris has proved that you don't need a unit the size of an ACOG to get a proper functioning red dot reticle!

Ok, Two things. I bought the 3moa with the Picatinny mount. You would figure for the money it would come with the mount with side protectors, but it doesn't. Please save your money on the one that comes with the mount, don't get the mount with it. Then buy the protective mount, which has side metal protectors $65.00. 2nd: When mounting this on top of scope with their AR-PEPR mount, you have to wind out the adjustment to the stop to get it close to the bullseye. You would think that they designed this mount for the fastfire and would design it to have more adjustment room to compensate for how high it is.

Absolutely love the Burris fastfire 3 sight. Have it mounted on a Mossberg 930 SPX and it gives 100% co-witness with the Ghost Ring Sights on the Mossy. When it was zeroed at 50 yards using Brenneke KO Slugs, I could drop my line of sight down on the Ghost Ring, and the red dot lines up directly on the front bead. Have fired around 300 slugs and buckshot loads, with the zero remaining dead on. The new click adjustments are positive, with the multiple brightness settings working fine for all light conditions. The protective cover snaps on firmly but yet is not hard to remove. The new top mount battery access is a definite plus. You will be amazed at how small this little jewel is. Well worth the price.

Burris fastfire 3 Dot is crisp and clear

Burris fastfire 3 Dot is crisp and clear, just a small red dot perfectly round and sharp. This site is much better than the FFII, which I had and sold because it would not dim down enough. The three manual brightness settings on the FFIII are perfect. It dims way down for evening shooting. On my Ruger MK III 22/45 with the threaded barrel, I had to shim the rear of the Picatinny base up because I ran out of vertical adjustment. I cut a strip from a coke can and folded it three times and inserted in under the rear of the sight base. That tilted the sight down slightly, which allowed me to raise the elevation correctly. I am very happy with the FFIII. No regrets at all on the purchase.

I wasn't so sure about buying this sight. I've had red dots before but never a tiny one like this. Getting the battery cap back on was a bit tricky. You have to be very careful not to cross-thread the cap, and it took me a few tries to get it right. I found screwing it backwards until you feel it click into place before turning it clockwise to tighten was helpful. Mounting it to my new Ruger Charger pistol was a breeze. It looks great and fits perfectly on the Picatinny rail. The dot itself is clear and precise. The auto adjustment for the illumination is quick to respond to changing light levels and does a good job of choosing the correct brightness level. Sighting in was easy. Mine was only off a few inches, and adjusting it was easy using the supplied screwdriver. The windage/elevation controls have a very subtle "click" you can barely feel and definitely not hear. This wasn't a problem for me; visually, there are markings around the control that allows you to see how many "clicks" you are turning. My first trip to the range really made me happy I bought this sight and removed any doubt if I had bought the right sight for me. The 3MOA dot allowed great precision out to 25 yards. Even at 50 yards, I was able to shoot some pretty tight groups. The sight gives you a great view, unlike some of the tube sights which obstruct your view of anything around your target. The FFIIIs thin top barely gets in the way at all, and in fact, I'd almost not even notice it was there after a while. The bottom line, the FastFire III, is a great little red dot sight. I couldn't be any happier with mine, and being an admitted optics snob, that says a lot! I'd absolutely buy another and may actually do just that. I'd recommend it to family or friends without any second thoughts. Sorry for the long-winded review!

In other words, this is a superb sight, specifically for the money. I purchased two, one for Beretta Neos, and one to get a Glock 34. I was most worried about the one that will be driving the slip on the Glock concerning durability. My concerns were unfounded. Both arenas have functioned flawlessly. You'd expect the one on the 22 pistol to be nice, and it has. So he has the one on Glock. No blinking, no turning off, has held no perfect through 450 rounds thus far. I'd take to care to treat all screws with Loctite and also to allow it heal for a whole twenty-four hours before shooting. I am happy I did not purchase more costly red dots, there was no need. The lifetime guarantee sealed the deal.
