    15 years

For the last 15 years, I've been using Burris scopes and have tried other brands but never felt satisfied - I always ended up comparing them to Burris. The 4.5-14X42 scope I recently purchased is of the same high quality as the scope I purchased 15 years ago, which is still going strong and mounted on my favorite deer rifle. It's reassuring to know that I can rely on the Burris name to deliver a top-notch product. I now own over 25 Burris rifle scopes, including old Fullfields and Signature Selects as well as newer Fullfield II's, along with binoculars and a spotting scope. I'm hoping that Burris will bring back the Signature Selects. Thank you.

    performed flawlessly

I've been using my 3x9 Fullfield II scope on my Win Mod 70 300WSM for the past eight years. I've developed a highly accurate 180gr load at 2800fps, and the BDC reticle is incredibly precise. Zeroed at 100 yards, the scope hits dead on at 100, 200, and 300 yards, is 2 inches low at 400 yards, and 3 inches low at 500 yards. Since most of my shots on Colorado mule deer and elk are between 250-400 yards, this scope is ideal. Last year, I even managed to take a beautiful 4x4 mule deer at 644 yards while standing off sticks. While the scope isn't designed for shots that long, with lots of practice and a comprehensive understanding of ballistics, it performed flawlessly.

    Nice scope for the money

This scope is an excellent value at under $200, falling somewhere between a Crossfire Vortex and a Leupold VX2. While my VX2 6-18 may be better, it's probably not twice the price better. The objective may be larger than 42mm; I tried mounting it on a Ruger ring combo rated for 42mm, but it wasn't even close. That issue could be with the Ruger rings, however. I mounted the scope on a 22-250 and sighted it in about an inch high at 100 yards, and the BDC appears to be accurate up to around 400 yards. The finish, like many Burris scopes, seems to scratch more easily than Vortex or Leupold scopes. However, all things considered, this scope is an excellent value at $185 from a reputable brand.

This is precisely what I needed - excellent quality at a reasonable price. While some reviewers have reported accidentally turning the adjustment when bumped, I don't anticipate this happening. I'm not sure if they were referring to the magnification or parallax adjustment, but I was surprised at how rigid both are. Perhaps they become looser over time if constantly adjusted, but I don't think it will be an issue. Even if it does feel loose in years to come, I trust that the Burris warranty will take care of any problems. Overall, I'm pleased with my first Burris scope and its performance.

Be ware that the power ring turns the whole eyepiece bell too

The glass is clear and easy to zero on my 7mag, but I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 rating because adjusting the magnification requires rotating the whole eyepiece bell instead of just the knurled ring, unlike most other variable power scopes. I can't remember if this detail was disclosed in the manufacturer's product description, but I may have overlooked it. Ideally, I prefer independent movement of just the magnification ring, leaving the eyepiece bell in a fixed position. The Butler Creek flip-style scope covers aren't practical for this scope as both bell ends must rotate independently - the eyepiece for magnification and the objective for parallax adjustment. If you want scope covers that can be left on while in the field, the challenge is to find see/shoot-through covers that fit both bells snugly enough to omit the drawstring. So far, I haven't found any covers that work without significant modification.

    Best scope for the money!!

I must say, this scope is fantastic - incredibly clear and bright. I was on the lookout for a scope for my AR-15 as I wanted to start varmint hunting. After doing my research for two solid weeks, I settled on a Burris scope. Although I previously had a Vortex red dot, I found it only good for up to 50-75 yards. As I was getting into varmint hunting, I needed something better, but not cheap. I looked at a range of options, including Vortex, Leupold, Bushnell, and UTG, but ultimately chose Burris due to its excellent reviews on Amazon and other sites. The "forever lifetime warranty" was also a huge selling point, as it has fewer restrictions compared to other brands. I opted for the 4.5-14x42mm, and price range was a significant consideration as I needed to purchase a good scope mount and stay under the $200 budget. I consider myself a bargain hunter, so I scoured the internet until I stumbled upon an incredible deal on Amazon. I got the scope for $190 with no tax and free shipping, and it arrived in less than three days without a Prime account. Similar scopes with a 4.5x14x42mm or higher range would cost at least $300 or more, so getting it for such a steal was fantastic. The quality of the scope is excellent - everything feels secure and turns smoothly. I'm blown away by the optics, which provide a clean and impressively bright image. Furthermore, the scope weighs only 18oz, making it more compact than other bulky options. I can't wait to use the Burris AR scope mount I ordered to mount my scope and go hunting!

Decent scope for the price point

I'm satisfied with this scope overall, especially considering its price. The clarity of the glass is just as good as, if not better than, other scopes in the same price range and some higher-priced models. While it may not be a high-end brand like Luepold, Nightforce, Ziess, or Swaro, it is an affordable option that performs well for its intended purpose. Once I adjusted the focus for my eyesight, the reticle was sharp and clear, without obstructing the sight picture like some more complex reticles can. It's not too heavy or too fine for my needs. Although I haven't tested the holdover points yet, I don't expect to be doing much long-range shooting with this 6.8spc rifle. The adjustable objective is convenient for me as a left-handed shooter, as adjusting a side-focus parallax can be awkward. However, I found the reticle adjustments via the turrets to be a bit strange. The turrets are finger-adjustable, but the interface isn't as user-friendly as some other models I've used, like the Droptine series. Additionally, the turrets can be adjusted with a flathead screwdriver, which seems outdated to me. The clicks are 1/4" @ 100yds and aren't precise or repeatable enough for serious long-range use. Overall, I view this scope as a set-and-forget option for hunting at moderate distances. The magnification and parallax adjustments are firm but not overly difficult. The finish of the scope is what you'd expect from a quality optics manufacturer, and it seems to be well-constructed. However, there are a few design features that are a bit different from other scopes, such as the whole ocular lens rotating when adjusting the power setting, which can be a hassle with flip-up caps. If you're looking for a decent piece of glass for a great price to put on a rifle and go hunting, this scope may fit your needs. However, if I were to buy another similar scope, I would likely choose the Droptine series again, as I have no issues with the one I currently own.
