This is an excellent flip-up front sight system, with a reliable mounting method. I have used and own the .750 and .625 versions of this gas block/sight block, and it is a great, lightweight combo that provides the best of both worlds for shooters looking or a one-stop solution to running carbines and rifles with either your irons or optics. The unit is much lighter than I expected, while retaining a steel gas block-a necessity for carbines. This flip-up has the one of the most user-friendly push-buttons, especially for users wearing gloves. The round front sight post protective cover prevents damage to the post, which is fairly common with open leaf front sight housings. I have been shooting AR15's since I was a kid, and spent 10 years behind M16's and M4's in Airborne and Special Operations units in the Army in 3 different theaters of conflict around the globe. I continue to work and provide services in the security industry, and my use of the AR15 family has only increased since I left the military. This is a great gas block/front sight option that provides the user with flexibility without headaches associated with mounting an extra rail in order to mount a detachable flip-up sight.
