AR15 Rifle
In modern times, one could argue the dependency for survival on a rifle is not what it may have once been. We have burglar alarms, cellular phones, laws and police forces, a powerful army, and technology has made us safer than ever. At the same time, technology has made us more vulnerable than ever before. A small group has the potential to wipe out millions of people with a single Pistol Grip weapon. The fall of the Soviet Union has loosened the control over its existing nuclear weapons, and third-world countries can have nuclear arsenals. The threats from crime, terrorism, natural disaster, and weapons of mass destruction are real. If something were to happen today, you would need to have made a decision about the rifle you would select and be prepared for such an event.
So the need to select a “survival” rifle is real. Selecting a single “ideal rifle” is not easy. The AR15 series of rifles comes out ahead when compared to everything else. In the text that follows, this article will attempt to justify that decision, as well as to take it a step further and specify a single configuration of the AR-15 that is “ideal”.

Microchip Implants Cause Fast-Growing, Malignant Tumors in Lab Animals
Katherine Albrecht at Citizens Advocate - if this is true, it’s the end of Verichip’s ID chip implants. Good. [skype]
Albrecht first became aware of the microchip-cancer link when she and her “Spychips” co-author, Liz McIntyre, were contacted by a pet owner whose dog had died from a chip-induced tumor. Albrecht then found medical studies showing a causal link between microchip implants and cancer in other animals. Before she brought the research to the AP’s attention, none of the studies had received widespread public notice.
A four-month AP investigation turned up additional documents, several of which had been published before VeriChip’s parent company, Applied Digital Solutions, sought FDA approval to market the implant for humans. The VeriChip received FDA approval in 2004 under the watch of then Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson who later joined the board of the company.
Under FDA policy, it would have been VeriChip’s responsibility to bring the adverse studies to the FDA’s attention, but VeriChip CEO Scott Silverman claims the company was unaware of the research.
Mobile system promises free calls
BBC News - the Swedish company TerraNet is creating a peer-to-peer cell phone. Each phone is part of a network, forwarding calls to other phones, up to seven two-kilometer hops away, without the need for cell towers or fees. TerraNet base stations extend this distance via VOIP. Cool. [gloryroad]

Clerk Teams Hunters With Landowners
Town Clerk Derek Buckley is putting together a first-of-its-kind list of private landowners who will allow hunters onto their property to bag deer and other wildlife. “We have a new state law that allows for this,” Buckley said Tuesday.
Give Schools A Choice To Be Tougher Targets
At issue: A state bill to allow trained adults the choice to carry a concealed firearm at school. Our view: Such adults have excellent safety records, while “gun-free zones” offer only the illusion of safety.
Larken Rose - another in the TMDS series of essays (The Most Dangerous Superstition: the belief in imposed authority). Behind every law, every single one, is the threat of violence.
Nonetheless, the violence inherent in ALL involuntary “taxation” goes unnoticed by most people, simply because in most cases, the violence never actually occurs–people “comply” in order to AVOID the nasty things threatened by the feds. However, for a reality check, it’s helpful for people to be able to see, every once in a while, the true colors of so-called “tax collectors,” and that only happens when someone resists.
I was merely put in prison for a year, but even that is a very deceptive indicator of how vicious and violent the “law enforcers” truly are. I went along with being put in a cage in order to avoid the ultimate “trump card” behind EVERY “law” or EVERY “government”: murder. If you doubt that, you need only look to an example of someone who DIDN’T go along with the federal terrorists. I’m speaking, of course, of Ed and Elaine Brown.
Does anyone need machine-guns and tanks in order to ask nicely for a voluntary contribution? Are SWAT teams and sneak attacks required to collect “donations”? No. The IRS, the ATF, and all “tax collectors,” are gangs of armed robbers, willing to murder those who do not give in. Again, we rarely SEE the true colors of these gangs of inhuman monsters, because almost everyone caves in quickly in order to AVOID having the really nasty stuff happen to them.
