    Glock vs. Trijicon Night Sights

    5 out of 5
    Location:
    Date: February 5, 2023

Trijicon Night Sights offer a clearer and more open sight picture compared to the Glock OEM night sights. I have frequently used the Glock OEM sights for everyday carry and competitions, but I've found them lacking for accurate and precise shots beyond 20 yards. This hindered my ability to shoot to the full potential of my Gen 3 Glock 19. With the Trijicon Night Sights, I feel more confident in my ability to shoot accurately from longer distances. While some may argue that the ability to shoot 20+ yards with a handgun is unnecessary in real-life situations, having increased accuracy and precision provides me with a greater sense of comfort and satisfaction.

The Trijicon XR sights gl601-c-600835 have the potential to be great, with their thin front sight and rounded rear for precise aiming. I selected the orange front, but found that the green/yellow front sights from Ameriglo Pro I-dots were easier to see. The Ameriglo front sight illuminates like a fiber optic and continues to glow in the dark, while Trijicon's front sight is simply orange colored and does not luminesce. The construction of the Trijicon sights is top-notch, but the bottom of the front sight that sits into the slide is smaller and not as precisely machined as the Ameriglo sights. The Ameriglo has a tight fit, while the Trijicon is loose and requires careful alignment during installation. The thin front sight makes up for the lack of fiber optic brightness, but compared to other sights like Truglo TFX, Ameriglo Pro, or Sig X-Ray, the Trijicon's front sight could use more "pop" in bright light. This is especially noticeable when shooting in low light, such as in the woods. Overall, the Trijicon XR sights offer a thin front sight, but give a little in terms of easy visibility in any light. They could be improved by incorporating the fiber optic brightness found in other sights.

Trijicon HD XR Night Sights with Orange Front Post: A Quality Product

The trijicon hd xr glock 19 sights are fantastic and unbeatable for its price. It's one of the best sights you can buy. Shipping was smooth, no issues with receiving the wrong or used product as reported by some reviews. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Pros: Bright tritium inserts and anti-shock rubber bushings with sapphire caps ensure excellent visibility in low-light and dark conditions. These sights are incredibly bright and easily visible in the dark. Solid metal construction, providing a durable and high-quality feel. These sights are leagues ahead of stock sights or those made of plastic. I feel they'll last a long time even with frequent use. Intelligent design and execution. The rear sight widens towards the front, allowing the eye to track the front blade through a wider angle. The serrations on the back of the rear sight eliminate glare, and the sight extends to the back of the slide for a longer sight picture. The front blade is narrow for pinpoint accuracy and the dayglow orange dot is easy for the eye to pick up and track. These sights are fast for instinctive shooting, but also offer a high level of accuracy. They balance speed and accuracy well. Sturdy tight fit to the slide without the need for pins, punches, or tiny allen keys/hex wrench. The previous set of sights I used required two .050 hex screws and were a nightmare to remove or adjust. Cons: These sights required hand-fitting for my Glock 19, which may not be suitable for everyone and requires tools. If you have a good file, a sight pusher, a 3/16ths narrow-neck socket with a flat face, some Loctite, and some patience, you'll be good to go. Otherwise, you may need to buy the tools or have a gunsmith do the work for you. No instructions are included. Trijicon assumes you already know how to fit your sights or that you will take your firearm and sights to a professional for installation. It's not difficult, but you may need to watch some videos online if you're unfamiliar with the process. (This may be a con for some people).

no co-witness as complained by a user-no need

If you're using a red dot (MOS) sight, I advise against purchasing these trijicon hd xr night sight set. These iron sights are superb and precise, especially at night, but they are meant to be used as standalone sights. I have mounted them on a Glock 19x and a S&W M&P 2.0, both of which do not have a red dot sight. I also plan to mount them on my recently acquired H&K VP9 and SIG P320C. If you need a backup system for your red dot sight, consider getting plain suppressor height sights instead. Keep the backup sights in the lower 1/3 of the red dot window, with the red dot up and away from the sights. Most sights, including Trijicon, do not co-witness with red dots. I had a RMR and Trijicon iron sights on my Glock 45 service weapon, but they did not co-witness. In my agency, we take a 10-hour transition course that teaches how to transition from iron sights to MOS sights, and one of the aiming methods used is placing tape across the front of the MOS sight. This allows you to see the dot but not through the optic. With two eyes, you simply overlay the red dot on the threat as seen by the other eye. A co-witness is not necessary. If you're primarily looking through the MOS sight, you're not using the MOS sight correctly. It's not the same as a red dot on a rifle. I'm currently using a Holosun 507 on my Glock 45 with a CH Precision plate and plain Trijicon night sights (suppressor height, still low in the window). I don't need to see the iron sights unless the red dot goes out, which is required by my agency. If you're not a two-eye shooter, using a MOS red dot sight on a pistol can be challenging. I hope this helps clarify things for those who are new to this technology. I appreciate it since I have old eyes (turning 80 next year) and I only focus on the threat, like throwing rocks. I am a firearms instructor for a sheriff's agency in Arizona and still run a slow 100-meter dash (despite my age and wounds). I'm a retired Army officer with two tours in Vietnam and a BA in anthropology/archeology, nearly an MS in Southeast Asian cultures. Some of the information being taught in school was outdated compared to my experience, so I stopped spending money on school and went back to Southeast Asia to teach English. I receive good-natured ribbing from my younger deputies but I have no issues with them. I just want them all to be safe and return home at the end of their shifts. These iron sights are great since they allow you to see the threat with the big "U" shaped rear sight and narrow front sight, providing good accuracy. They have helped this old-eyed set hit a man-sized steel target at 100 meters regularly. As a sergeant once told me at Vietnamese scout school, "if you can see it, you can hit it," and these sights support that idea.

Great sights for a CCW or Duty weapon.

Great sights for people with aging eyes or not so perfect vision. I usually run the Warren FO tactical sights, but I choose these for my Glock 33 for CCW as they have the tritium inserts for nighttime use. I read a lot of reviews online before I choose these, and the orange front sight is favored, and I agree. The Orange really pops and draws your attention to it.

Excellent Trijicon hd xr night sight set

Fit and finish are spot on like anything you would expect from Trijicon. For my gen 5 G19, the factory Glock rear site tool was not able to drift the rear sight in. The fit was extremely tight and required the use of a third-party rear site tool and a lot of muscle. Once that was sorted, it is like night and day compared to the factory sights on the range. The ability to quickly get a good-sight picture and put rounds on target is amazing. The XD thin front sight post allows for easier distance shots just as advertised. 10/10 best pistol sights I have used.

I ordered and installed these sights for my gen 4 glock 19. In my opinion they are the best sights I've ever seen for self-defense applications. The thinner front blade, in conjunction with the wide u notch rear sight offers the best sight picture I've ever encountered. With most combat sights, the front blade fills up the rear sight notch, blocking out most of the sight picture. With the HD Xr's, the thinner blade allows you to see much more of the target, to quickly and accurately identify and react to a target in a high-stress situation.

By far the best sight available on the market today. The front sight is easily picked up and the extended range provided by the slimmer front sight is an accuracy enhancement. I have zero regrets and will replace every handgun sight I have with these.

These are the first aftermarket sights I've purchased, which replaced the factory sights on my Glock 19, and I love them! Installation was super easy. I had them on in about 10 minutes using the NCStar VISM sight drifter. The sight picture is fantastic and a drastic improvement over the Glock factory sights. I'd certainly recommend these sights to anyone looking to replace their Glock sights. The thinner front sight is terrific for precision shots, and I'm very surprised at how easily and quickly I pick up the front sight when practicing my draw. The bright yellow dot screams during my presentation, which is a huge advantage.

While I am a fan of Trijicon sights, I have them on four pistols; this last set I purchased is not the same as pictured. The front sight is now twice as long as it used to be. It works, of course but I would not say I like the look of the front sight on the 19. Just know that before purchasing if that’s something that would bother you. Other than that, they are incredible sights, as you would expect from Trijicon.

These sights are outstanding, are smaller than a traditional set of sights, and double as a slide racker in a pinch. I have put these on 3 Glocks.
