    Great Rifle Scope

The I used the Night Force scope on a Remington 700 in 300 win and shot it around 50 times during hunting season. The scope held up well despite being carried for miles, strapped to the back on ATV rides, and bumped into ladder stands. Despite not being stored in a case during 7000 miles of hunting trips on bumpy roads, the scope held zero all deer season. I previously used a 56mm "Z" brand scope that would often lose its zero, but found that the Night Force scope was just as good in low light conditions and was able to spot game easily.

The Night Force SHV appears to be well-constructed with exceptional glass clarity and brightness. The illumination with multiple brightness settings is a plus and the battery compartment is discreet. The clicks on the elevation and windage knobs are audible and definite, but with a slight wiggle (not as smooth as on the NF Benchrest model). The scope is on the heavy side, which is a common drawback with Night Force optics. However, the author is returning it because of the limited warranty which states that the scope's waterproof integrity is only maintained with protective caps installed. This is a concern for the author as they plan to hunt in snow during November in Colorado. Additionally, the electronic components of the illuminated model are only covered for three years. The author suggests considering another model, such as the Leupold Mark 4, which has a full lifetime warranty and is waterproof. The glass may not be as good as Night Force, but the warranty provides peace of mind.

    Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 review

    5 out of 5

I was introduced to Nightforce optics several years ago when I became passionate about long-range hunting. At the time, I had never heard of Nightforce, but after discovering LongRangeHunting.com and learning about long-range shooting, I was intrigued by the brand. Nightforce has established itself as the benchmark for high-precision optics in the field. Their scopes are expensive but are a quality investment that will last for generations. I have used many different scopes from other brands, but I find Nightforce to be the best. Recently, I got my hands on the new SHV 5-20x56 with an exposed elevation turret, which I was eager to evaluate. The scope was well-packaged and shipped promptly. It has the same quality and features as the higher-end Nightforce scopes, except for the sunshade. The scope has a matte finish, fast focus eyepiece, and a power adjustment ring that doesn't rotate with the eyepiece like the NXS line. The exposed elevation turret is a huge improvement and has solid, audible clicks. The zero-set feature is easy to use and the capped windage turret is useful for hunting. The reticle is MOA and has illumination, but I prefer non-illuminated reticles. The scope performed well in both low light and bright light environments. I tested the scope at various ranges and it held its zero after 50 rounds of heavy recoil. The exposed elevation turret was a joy to use and I appreciated the large, visible MOA markings. My only complaint was that the turret had only 10 MOA per revolution. The image through the scope was clear and bright. I also tested the scope in the woods and at a long-range pistol shooting match. The SHV performed well in both environments, but the capped windage turret was a hindrance in the windy match. After removing the cap, the windage turret functioned perfectly. Overall, I highly recommend the Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 with an exposed elevation turret.

I was initially apprehensive about the Nightforce SHV riflescope because I was used to higher end scopes like the ATACR. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its performance. I switched to this scope on my deer rifle as I needed more magnification due to my aging eyesight, and it has exceeded my expectations. It surpasses my previous scopes, the Zeiss and Swarovski, in every aspect. For the average shooter, this scope is an excellent choice and there's no need for a more expensive option.

    A conditional Recommendation

Nightforce is known for its durable and dependable optics, and the SHV is no exception. After a few weeks of use, I've found it to hold its zero and track accurately. However, I do have one issue with the reticle - its thin lines tend to disappear when I lock onto my target. If you're considering this scope, I highly recommend opting for the illuminated reticle, which should eliminate this problem. Unfortunately, I couldn't do this and am now stuck with a scope that doesn't meet my expectations compared to my Leupold and Vortex scopes. Despite this, the SHV has a strong build quality and clear glass. If the reticle meets your needs, this scope should serve you well.

    SHV 5-20x56 MOAR Illuminated

The Nightforce riflescope is everything you need for long-range hunting and shooting, delivering the quality and performance that the brand is known for. I was wary of the glass and coatings, but they proved to be on par with Swarovski and Zeiss. The MOAR reticle was a concern, but it turned out to be a great asset for long-range precision, with a well-balanced center crosshair that doesn't obstruct the field of view. I also highly recommend investing in illumination for those crucial shots in low light. All in all, this is an excellent scope that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I am thrilled with my purchase of these curtains! They are so beautiful that I am ordering a second pair for my bedroom to have more of them bunched together. I will write a more detailed review and include pictures and a video to show just how gorgeous they are. I chose Beige and Silver with grommets for my living room windows and Black and Silver Back Tabs for my bedroom. Both were excellent choices, providing the perfect balance of light and privacy for my needs. The curtains are soft and made of great quality material, delivered quickly and packaged nicely. The price and quality can't be beat anywhere. I highly recommend these curtains and can't wait to receive my next order, wash them, and get rid of the wrinkles for pictures and to enjoy them for a long time.

    nightforce 5-20x56 shv review

The Nightforce SHV is a series of scopes designed for all three disciplines of shooting: shooting, hunting, and varminting. The SHV line is Nightforce's most affordable series and offers a great range of magnifications, including 3-10x42, 4-14x50, 4-14x56, and 5-20x56. The 5-20x56 is a great magnification range for both target shooting and hunting. The SHV scopes are manufactured in Japan and maintain the same quality of manufacturing that Nightforce is known for. The scopes are smaller and lighter than the NX8 and ATACR series, but still pack many of the same capabilities. The main tube is 30mm and made from aircraft-grade aluminum, with an anodized matte black finish. The elevation turret has large, easy-to-read numbering, a total internal elevation range of 80 MOA, and a ZeroSet feature that allows the shooter to set the zero of the elevation turret. The windage turret has a total internal adjustment range of 50 MOA, and the parallax and illumination dial is adjustable from 25 yards to infinity. The MOAR reticle provides basic holdover capability for elevation and windage. The glass provides a clear image at all magnifications, with no signs of chromatic aberrations or vignetting. The 5-20x56 variant has a large objective lens that captures light and delivers a bright image. The SHV 5-20x56 weighs in at 29.1 oz/824 grams, making it a good weight for an optic that is built for both target shooting and hunting. The Nightforce SHV is a great option for budget-minded long-range shooters, offering solid clicks, a range of reticles, and the ability to set zero on the elevation turret. The only drawback is that the throw lever does not come as standard, and needs to be purchased separately.

The overall impression of the Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 scope is very positive. I generally don't spend this much for rifle glass but decided that if I wanted to maximize the potential of my newly acquired Savage Stealth Evolution, good glass was mandatory. First, there are a lot of quality scopes in this price range from very reputable manufacturers. Of all the scopes I considered, the Nightforce MOAR illuminated reticle was the selling point. Glass Clarity, eye relief, tracking, and durability were also considerations in the purchasing decision. First time out to the range, after zeroing, my first two five-shot groups at 100 yards were .472 and .423. Being able to really see the targets were the main reason, in my opinion, for the excellent results. While expensive, I would highly recommend this scope for those that take their shooting seriously.

I mounted this scope with the MOAR reticle on my new Remington 700 5R Milspec 223. This thing is a beast. It's big and heavy, and the glass is phenomenal. Better than my Burris XTRII and as good as if not better than any of my Leupolds. It's a pricey scope, so I decided not cheap out on the mounting hardware and went all Nightforce with their standard 0 moa rail and 30mm four-hole Picatinny rings. It's a nice solid setup. (I do wish the rail was steel instead of aluminum though.)

I shoot NRA midrange, long-range, and across the course optical matches using Eliseo and Tubb 2000 rifles. I have two NXS 5.5-22 and bought the SHV 5-20 for a new rifle. I need the side parallax adjustment for range changes. I like the fast focus feature of the SHV to tweak the clarity of the reticle. It may not be necessary, but I like it. I really like that the zero stop is standard on this model. It's an option on the NXS models. I like the knobs on the NXS better, but for the price, the SHV is a great buy.

Always wanted a Nightforce but couldn't afford it. When they came out with the SHV, I bit the bullet and ordered one. Put it on a 26" varmint contour barreled 7mm-08 with Warne rail and rings. It is clear and adjusts perfectly. I am delighted with this scope.
