Strong enough, but too small for my 74 year old fingers. These M&P Shields are a bear for me to operate the slides. Thought this might help. Does not help me at all. Have a Ruger Mark 3 with a loop added to the side that works for me, this is just a little too small.

Wife has M&P Shield and was having trouble gripping the slide, and when she pulled, she couldn't get sufficient leverage to pull it back, or she would lose her grip. When we got the TacRack, she is now able to get a better hold. She still grips it normally, but with the TacRack she rest her finger against the TacRack and it gives her that added support to be able to pull it back. She was pondering about getting another handgun, but this has changed her mind. Side note: The original cover plate that comes in the Shield is made of common plastic; the TacRack is made of 6061 Aluminum and much stronger than the Original. I think it looks great too.
