    Amazing optic!!!

I finally got the Vortex Viper PSR GenII 5-25 with the EBR-2C reticle, and I couldn't be happier; I mounted it on my custom-built rem 700 in .308. I have already shot one match with it, and it amazing. The turret dials are firm and crisp, the zero stop feature is perfect, and parallax adjustment is very precise, and to top it all off, the illuminated reticle is a great feature for low light conditions. I would highly recommend this scope to anyone looking for a great quality optic. Thank.

    Knocking them dead

My son bought this two months ago, ready for the elk and deer season and getting ready for a moose hunt in British Columbia ( senior gift). He saved all summer and sold his last Vortex to buy this one. You can't ask for a better rifle scope. The main purpose of buying this one was for the long-range ability and to take on his moose hunt. So if he has to take a five or six hundred yard shot, he will. I will be bringing this scope to Crystal Lake Resort to bag that trophy once in a lifetime Moose, bear, and wolf this September.

My Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 FFP Review

    5 out of 5

    Date: February 16, 2021

I bought my first Vortex scope (Viper PST II 5x25x50 MRAD) 6 weeks ago for hunting and also to try my hand at long-range target PRS type shooting. I have to say I am very impressed. This is my first Tactical / PRS type scope, but I have some really high-end glass from Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss, and Canon. The optics, color, clarity, contrast, resolution, and light transmission are excellent. There is a small amount of aberration at the fringes of the image on high magnification, but not significant enough to cause distraction or problems, and also present on optics costs 2-3 times more. I have not done a ladder test yet, but the tracking and clicks are crisp, and sight adjustments at 100 yds were spot on. Also, parallax adjustment was easy and accurate with markings from 50 - 1000 yds. —— NOTES ABOUT RING HEIGHT ON RUGER PRECISION RIFLE (RPR): I decided on Vortex 30mm Precision Matched Rings but was unsure about height for the RPR. I typically like my scopes mounted as low as possible for size/stability/strength/accuracy, but also because my younger sons will be shooting the rifle. I read reviews and Q&As, and also spoke to a rep. It sounded like the 1.26” height would fit but be close, but may not allow sufficient height for stock contact without canting your head. The 1.45” height would provide extra clearance and better eye-scope alignment on the stock. I went with the 1.26” for the reasons above and because I am used to hunting style stocks. The 1.26” rings do fit and provide about ⅜” clearance between the scope bell and barrel. HOWEVER, the rep was correct. Although I can get my eye behind and in line with the scope, I do have to cant my head and press my face into the stock, even with the cheek piece at the lowest position. THE 1.45” RINGS WOULD BE BETTER WITH THE RPR AND THIS SIZE SCOPE. What I was not used to and did not account for is that the RPR (and likely similar style chassis/PRS type stocks) have a configuration with a much straighter butt-stock and with the action sitting lower and in-line with the stock for accuracy and reduced recoil. This significantly increases cheek-stock height in relation to the action. I hope this helps someone with the correct configuration. Good luck and best wishes. Mike D.

The scope that everyone wants to try

I had toiled in low-end scope purgatory for years. Once the chance to participate in a long-range shooting competition came up, I know it was time to move on up. Every review, every expert said that this scope was the one. They were right. The clarity of glass, precision of adjustment, and crisp FFP reticle can't be touched at this price point. This scope sits atop my Ruger Precision Rifle 6.5cm, and it is basically a laser gun at this point with the 140gr ELDs. On top of all this, I can't say enough about the amazing warranty. I thought when it came, and I had it mounted, that it had an issue with the windage turret tracking. I called Vortex, and they encouraged me to send it, which I did free of charge. I week or so later, I got a call. A real person called me, on my telephone, and spoke to me about it. Adam said that they couldn't get it to replicate what I was saying in the factory, so he wanted my permission to take it out in the field and see if they could learn more. How amazing. In this day and age, a real person wanted to help me with a product, and on their own time, no less. He mounted the scope to his own rifle and took it for a spin. Needless to say, I was the one who had made a mistake, not them. They were happy to put my concerns to rest, and I couldn't be happier with the product or the company. Many claims to have a "lifetime" warranty. Vortex delivers the goods.

    Awesome scope

I have this mounted on a 40moa rail on a Bergara B14R .22lr with Seekins rings. Let me say this is an awesome setup. Using match grade ammo, I am consistently nailing steel at 400 yards as of now. My plan is to get out to 600 yards. This scope makes it a lot easier to see clearly, range targets, make corrections and nail steel at longer distances. I previously had this on a 6.5 Creedmoor and was nailing steel at 1250 yards with no problem. 👍🏼

    Great scope! Almost perfect.

Five stars for clarity and ease of adjustments for windage and elevation. The turrets give a very precise tactile feedback with each click that you can feel even through gloves, and the zero-stops are easy to set up. Lenses are extremely clear, even in low-light situations—3 stars for how stiff the magnification adjustment dial is. You almost need a throw-lever if you're viewing your target and need to adjust the magnification without losing sight of where you are aiming. The illumination dial is similarly very stiff and difficult to actuate. I would definitely buy again to put on my long-range builds.

Can't beat the quality for the price of the Vortex Viper PST!

I mounted this Vortex Viper PST gen ii 5 25x50 on a 6.5 Creedmoor for a starter long-range rifle. Super easy to zero. Turrets function and track perfectly. I have nothing bad to say about this optic or vortex. Only shot with the optic out to 700m, but this was plenty of magnification for the area I was shooting in. Great build quality. I would buy another tomorrow.

Old eyes can't tell the difference between Vortex Razor and Vortex Viper PST Riflescope

I put this scope beside a buddy's Razor Gen II 4.5 x 27, and I couldn't tell the difference with my old eyes. Granted, it was a clear day, and in the middle of the day, so low light may have been a different story. However, not worth a $ 1,300 price increase. I can own two of these for that and have money left over for mounts! Shot a 1.7" group at 500 yds with my 6.5 Creedmoor. Couldn't be happier!

The Vortex Viper PST riflescope = Great Clarity and Smart Features

I’ve finally reached the age where I can’t use open sights to compete at 1000 yards, so I opted to put a scope on my AR-based spacegun in 6 mm HAGAR. The Vortex Viper PST GEN II 5 25x50 is precisely what I’d expect from the high-end line from VORTEX Optics. The scope is apparent, resulting from high-quality glass. I opted for the second focal plane scope for my fixed-distance shooting, so I cannot comment on the first focal plane. I’m pleased with my decision. The knobs are large and easy to adjust in position. The lighted reticle switch on the left side of the tube (adjacent to the parallax focus adjustment knob) has an “Off” position in between each intensity level, allowing the shooter to select an appropriate level and then quickly switch the optics off and return to an on-location immediately. The scope is well worth the price I paid.
