    Very Pleased

My electronic ear protectors arrived in the mail just five days after I placed my order, which was impressive for the supersaver shipping option. They arrived neatly bundled in the package, not the super-slim design that I knew when I ordered, but I was happy to see that they fold up very small and fit perfectly into my range bag. The ear protectors require four AAA batteries, two for each side, as each side is independently controlled. The only issue I've had is with inserting the batteries, as the battery compartment seems a bit short. I had to use a knife to carefully pry the batteries into place. Other than that, these ear protectors seem perfect. I adjusted the volume by snapping my fingers, and when I tested the NRR by clapping my hands, I could barely hear it. If the clapping sound is enough to cut off the internal speakers, then I'm confident that these ear protectors will work perfectly at the range. Update: After using these ear protectors for a few months, I was so satisfied that I purchased another pair for my son. I even use these while hunting, and it's amazing how much more I can hear with them on. I can hear crickets, annoying squirrels, and even the sound of dew falling on leaves in the morning. Additionally, the batteries last much longer than I expected, so the tight fit of the batteries in the compartment is not an issue at all. Just be aware that this is how they're designed.

Effective electronic earmuffs at a very reasonable price

I bought a pair of these earmuffs four years ago, and I still use them today. Some comments claim that they're too small for people with large heads, but this is untrue. I'm 6'4" and weigh 245lbs, and they fit me perfectly. My kids, who are now between 18-24 years old, have also used them and found them to be just as comfortable and effective. I especially appreciate being able to whisper to each other while hunting, thanks to the adjustable amplified volume controls, one for each ear. The earmuffs almost completely silence the sound of a firearm discharge, or even loud claps of my hands, thanks to the microphones that quickly turn off when detecting loud noises. Plus, they're very affordably priced. The only thing to keep in mind is that the earmuffs require batteries for each side, as they work independently from each other. Despite not using them often, maybe 2000 rounds of Ar15 and 500 rounds of 9mm per year, I've only had to replace the batteries four times, which is quite impressive in my opinion. I haven't used any other electronic earmuffs, so I can't compare them to more expensive models, but I'm extremely satisfied with these.

An excellent product for the small price.

The earmuffs perform as advertised, effectively blocking external noise when a loud noise is detected, even muffling the sound of the loudest firearms. The fully padded head strap ensures a comfortable fit, and the earmuffs are adjustable to accommodate different head sizes, even for those with larger heads. However, I do have two minor concerns that prevent this product from being perfect: Each earmuff is independently powered, requiring you to turn each one on separately. While not a significant issue, the dials move in opposite directions, making it somewhat confusing when wearing the earmuffs. The mic pickups are highly sensitive, picking up a lot of background "white noise" when the volume is turned up. Wind and other air movements are also amplified, making it challenging to use in headwind conditions. To mitigate this, I've discovered that wearing the earmuffs in reverse, with the mics pointed towards the back and somewhat shielded by your head, helps alleviate this issue. It's worth noting that the earmuffs I received are slightly different from the ones pictured above, with slide-out covers rather than screw-secured covers. However, this doesn't affect the earmuffs' performance, and it's important to know what you're getting.

They work, but there are better options.

Without a doubt, these earmuffs work well. I keep several pairs in my class for students who don't have their own electronic ear protection. Electronic or noise-canceling ear protection is the way to go these days, and these earmuffs are well priced and do the job effectively. However, what I dislike is that each ear has separate controls. It's easy to accidentally turn off one ear and leave the other on. Moreover, they don't have an auto shutoff, which means it's effortless to end up with dead batteries. Personally, I prefer having both ears at the same volume because otherwise, it bothers me and makes me think there's something on my right or left that isn't. The earmuffs are comfortable to wear, and I haven't had any issues with them wearing out. However, for a little extra money, a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sports would address all the battery and noise issues I mentioned. They're a higher quality set of ear protection that I personally prefer and would suggest investing in. Although these earmuffs work, I have spent a lot more time using the Impact Sports in various environments, taking a lot more punishment, and have had better experiences with them overall.

    Good muffs for the money

I appreciate that the microphones on these earmuffs are individually adjustable. The only slight downside is that you need two sets of batteries (one for each side). However, this feature can also serve as a backup. The sound quality is decent, similar to being on the other end of a phone call. Objects close to you are clear unless the sound is so loud that the suppression kicks in, such as a gunshot. Distant sounds are relatively quiet and hard to discern, but this should not be an issue as you'll typically use the earmuffs when in close proximity to what you want to hear. The suppression works well for loud sounds, but some quieter sounds may actually be louder with the earmuffs on. This can be addressed by adjusting the volume on the microphones. I was not bothered by the noise at all when firing M855 rounds out of an AR-15 with a muzzle brake attached. The suppression kicked in and canceled out all surrounding noises like chirping birds, rustling leaves, and people talking. These sounds slowly came back after the loud noise had subsided, which was quite impressive. For the price, I cannot complain about the minor issues mentioned above. These earmuffs are great based on what I have experienced.

They are comfortable to wear and are deeper than the 'slim' designs

I purchased these earmuffs primarily due to their low price point. I already own the Howard Leight Impact Sport and Walker's Game Ear Razor Slim muffs, and the main difference between them and the Champion earmuffs is that each muff has its own on/off/volume control and requires its batteries (2 AAA each...not included). The others only require two AAA batteries in total and have one on/off/volume control for both muffs. The only advantage of the Champion design that I can see is the ability to turn on only one muff. This may be helpful in a noisy shooting range. The Champion muffs have a noise reduction rating (NRR) of 25, while the Howard Leight and Walkers have an NRR of 22 and 23, respectively. The battery doors are challenging to align when putting them back on, and the batteries were tough to insert. The slots are just long enough for AAA batteries, and I had to exert force to get them into place. The Champion earmuffs are comfortable to wear and are deeper than the "slim" designs. However, as other reviewers have noted, this may interfere with the stock of a rifle or shotgun. Overall, I like the Champion earmuffs for their low price point (about half the cost of the Walker's and Howard Leight options). However, I still prefer the Walker's headset and would purchase it again if needed.

These are my first electronic earmuffs ever, and I was pleasantly surprised to find them at such a low price. I decided to give them a try, and they're a good buy as long as they last for a while. I can turn the volume up high enough to hear better than normal with them. They're also effective in silencing loud noises as they should. When I tried them for shooting, they worked well, although I had to nudge the rifle side muff back slightly to clear the stock. However, when I used them while working with power tools, they didn't silence some of the higher-pitched noises like an end mill screaming through aluminum. Additionally, they squeeze my head a little too hard, and it's annoying to adjust the volume on each side separately. The worst part is that I am certain the linkage from the muff to the head strap will eventually break, so I need to be careful with them. Nonetheless, I like them, and if they last a while, I'll be happy. I still prefer using earplugs when shooting a rifle, but I'll use these earmuffs for other activities at the range. They're particularly helpful when I'm spectating because I can hear everything that's being said, and when someone pops a round, it's not a big deal. When these earmuffs wear out, I will look for a higher quality set since I've had a chance to try them out now.

I purchased this headphone set for home defense, where I need to protect my hearing while still being able to communicate with the police or 911 operator. Discharging a firearm in a small space like a closet or bedroom can lead to permanent hearing loss. To make sure these headphones are highly reliable, I installed lithium batteries for a 20-year shelf life with no risk of leakage. Regarding the product itself, the quality seems excellent. The plastic cast head cups are well-made and visually appealing. The headband clamp is strong and made of metal, ensuring the ear cups stay firmly against your head. The microphones are highly sensitive, and when you turn the volume up, you can hear better than with your own ears. I might try using them for my next flight. While I haven't tested them at the shooting range yet, I tried them at home by creating a loud pop using a folded leather belt. When I did this close to the headphones, the electronic circuit muted instantly, and I only heard a muffled sound from the belt. Interestingly, a referee whistle came through loud and piercing, indicating that the electronic circuitry only mutes "impact" type sounds. Each ear cup has its power and volume control, with one knob turning in the opposite direction of the other. There are no labels on the ear cups indicating left or right. The headphones are symmetrical, and you point the microphone forward or backward depending on what you want to hear. The battery compartment is a bit tight, making it difficult to fit the batteries without some struggle. I had to use a screwdriver to pry the batteries into place, which could be problematic if you need to change the batteries without tools. When not in use, the ear cups fold nicely into the headband area, making for a compact package. Assuming they perform well at the shooting range, I would purchase these headphones again.

Have you ever come across product reviews where you doubted the reviewer's intellectual capacity? Reviews that made you wonder if the person writing it still marvels at the built-in sharpener in a 64-pack of Crayola crayons? Well, you may be having similar thoughts after reading this review. Although the Champion Electronic Ear Muffs function well, inserting the batteries was surprisingly challenging. The slot for each of the four AAA batteries was just slightly too short, requiring me to use a flat screwdriver blade to compress the spring and pop each battery into place. I was apprehensive of damaging the earmuffs or hurting my hand with the screwdriver. Aligning the sliding cover for each of the two battery compartments was equally difficult, and I consider myself to be intellectually competent and reasonably skilled. These issues seem to stem from the tolerances being too tight and not a result of my inability to handle simple objects. Hopefully, with repeated use, the ear muffs will become more user-friendly. The earmuffs work as advertised and are comfortable to wear, but I hope the batteries last long because I do not look forward to replacing them anytime soon.

    Good For the Price

I was looking for ear protection that wouldn't break the bank, but would still provide effective hearing protection. Wearing traditional ear protection feels like being in outer space, as it affects my balance. So, I decided to give electronic ear protection a try. Although I haven't used them at the range yet, I tested them with fireworks and was amazed by the results. The ear muffs allow me to hear everything, including the launch and the sounds fireworks make on their way down. However, the loud booms are significantly reduced in volume. They are also comfortable to wear and fold up conveniently to fit in my range bag. Despite what may seem like high volume levels, the max volume on these ear muffs is equivalent to normal volume, which can then be turned down if needed. They don't amplify sound like some other models. Overall, for the price, these ear muffs get the job done. I chose this particular model because they use AAA batteries, which are easy to find and I prefer to use rechargeable batteries.

The largest guns these earmuffs will ever block sound from- and they're PERFECT

These Champion Electronic Ear Muffs are commonly purchased for use at shooting ranges, where they protect the eardrums from the loud "BANG" of gunshots while allowing in higher frequencies such as voices, thanks to their tiny microphones and internal speakers. Even when a firearm is being fired nearby, the ear muffs block out the concussive forces of the gunshots, while still enabling the user to hear normal conversation. Although the author of this passage owns firearms and shoots skeet, they purchased these earmuffs for a different reason. They work as a professional pyrotechnician, designing and firing large-scale fireworks displays. Their guns range from three to sixteen inches in size, with even the smallest of these capable of causing serious injury. When working with fireworks, clear communication between workers is essential for safety. The author has found that these earmuffs allow them to communicate normally while protecting their hearing from the loud explosions of the fireworks. In fact, the author believes that these earmuffs are an industry-changing invention, and that they should be standard issue for all fireworks professionals. While traditional earplugs block out all sound, including important communication between workers, these earmuffs allow for clear communication even in the midst of explosive fireworks displays. The author highly recommends these earmuffs for anyone looking for this type of product, having put them through extreme testing environments and found them to be effective.
